A welcome return to league action is up next as Northbank make the long trip across the A69 to visit us.

After a slow start to the season Northbank have certainly picked up some form with 4 wins in their last 5 games, but their last outing was a 3-0 reverse at Ashington. They also have midweek Cumberland FA Senior Cup tie with Windscale on Wednesday to contend with.

It looks like we have returned to form again with 2 good cups win, the latter being an outstanding 4-1 win at Wearside League leaders Hebburn Town Reserves. Mick Watson has added more quality to his squad in the last couple of weeks and competition for places is hotting up.

Kick off is 2pm and all are welcome as always. if you're new to visiting Rutherford, please seek me out and say hello - I'll be sat on the memorial benches at the top of the hill!

Rutherford 3-0 Northbank Carlisle

Solid and disciplined performance by us to pick up another good win.

We couldn't have had a better start as David Boyle put us 1-0 inside less than a minute, then Dylan Howourth capatilised on a goalkeeping error to make it 2-0 on 15 mins.

Northbank started to get back in the game without massively troubling Tottle in our goal, whereas Moody will have wished for a better first touch when a great move gave him an opportunity to score a 3rd.

The 2nd half was completely different as Northbank pressed and pressed. We withstood the pressure though and restricted their chances.

Howourth then grabbed his 2nd and our 3rd with a delightful touch and a quick finish right into the bottom corner.

Northbank certainly didn't give up though and had the ball in the net in injury time but it was ruled out for offside.

Overall a very steady and structured win despite numerous enforced changes from our last game. This now makes is 3 wins on the bounce and only 1 league defeat since the first week of the season.

Northbank will pick up more points I'm sure. They passed well and had plenty energy, and as always we wish them all the best.
