Town played an excellent game but struggled in the first going 2-0 down but town struck back with a Gav Parkin goal before half time. Town then conceded twice before Colin Anderson and Craig Winter but goals in to make us go one goal behind again but the students then scored again. Town were awarded a penalty in which Carl Chillingsworth missed but Town were awarded another in which Darren Mowbray casually put in. Great game but appalled at how the referee didnt give any extra time for the Team Northumbria keeper been injured but Good banter and looking forward to get back on our winning streak again. :D

The referee only playing the flat 45 in the second half despite their trainer being on for their keepers injury, a stoppage for the keeper after he was hit in the face after the first penalty and six separate substitutions was frankly unbelievable. What made it worse was he indicated that he had added on 3 minutes while leaving the pitch, said in the clubhouse that he had added 3 and a half minutes, and also claimed to a third person that he 'couldn't see his watch properly because of the floodlights'.

Anyway, some poor defending first half led to the students having a 3 v 1 half time lead, Town were by far the better side in the second half and should have got something from the game. Again though, the lads gave it their all and never gave in even at 4 v 1 and 5 v 2 down.

Interesting point - who pays for Team Northumbria? They have no shirt sponsor, no fans, no clubhouse and seemingly no discernable income. Surely the university (ie taxpayers) aren't subsidising this? They have kits, all facilities and administration, and a team coach to away games. Can any other team in the second division afford that................???

The funding of Team Northumbria is a conundrum to me, I thought they were all students, but rumour in our terraces was they had offered terms to a couple of Darlo players  Good side that will be promoted to Div 1. Our gate of 121 was excellent taking into account they didnt have any supporters.

The game was a great advert for non-league football, but I have never seen a ref blow early. He got his times completely wrong, just as we attacked.
