Well I'm just beginning to recover but fair do's, today was horrible. Never felt like crying at a game before but I almost did. However, it wasn't when I heard the FT at Skem - it was after we conceded our second and Skem banged in another. It was at that point I could have sobbed and sobbed.

You see the second half was like torture. Not only we were floundering hopelessly on the pitch (doubtlessly hindered by Young not knowing how to fix it) but the goals kept on coming at Skem. Every time you heard they'd scored it was like being stabbed. Various rumours went around (typically) and at one point someone said it was 8-2 with about 5 mins to go - Skem needed one goal (we thought). We obviously weren't going to score again so you resigned yourself to the play-offs.

I have to say the man on the tannoy was the most useless bloke I've ever come across. First of all he DIDN'T keep us up to date as promised and when he eventually did at FT he ended up getting it wrong - 8-3 he screamed!! It wasn't even 8-2, just found out it finished 7-2 and we did it with TWO goals to spare not the one.

As it was I couldn't invade the pitch, too traumatised still. Found it hard to chant and cheer at the end, I never thought I'd feel disappointed after watching us win a league but there you go.

Final word about our fans - almost two and half thousand made the trip today. Magnificent support, worthy of a League Two side any day of the week. One step closer to our old stomping ground now, although you'd hope to see sweeping changes made over the summer.

Agree with all of this. I found it hard to Celebrate after going through so many emotions. because scores are so hard to get in these divisons you don't know what the score actually was. I was also getting false results on my Mobile. Waiting for 5 minutes at FT to wait for the Skem score was the worst feeling in the world.

It will sink in soon. Fantastic atmosphere during the trophy celebrations. I to was nearly drawn to tears! :?

But were CHAMPIONS!!!! and the party starts again tomorrow!! :D

Yep Skem Twitter was useless second half and even our own Twitter guys didn't seem to know what was going on. Too many rumours flying about.

Was hoping Chester would do the job and really pleased for them.

Take good care of Judgey and Simmo for us.

Oh, and don't forget you still didn't beat Leigh! :D

Congratulations to Chester on escaping Division 1 at he first attempt. You obviously won't be the first ex football league team to wind up in these divisions but at least things can return to normality for the remaining sides with a bit of luck Chorley, Curzon or Fylde will be joining you on the way up. With a bit of luck Colwyn will follow us up which will mean the spectacle of Chester v FCUM games and the huge crowds that would result can happen.

Rumour has it that should you see off Barwell, the Peter Swales Shield game will happen pre-season at The Shay, i look forward to that.

As for the rest of the Division One teams, enjoy (if its possible) that break between the last game of the season and pre-season beginning. Saturdays spent with the missus here i come

I saw the game as a neutral and found the occasion absolutely riveting. I thought Garforth played really well and the introduction of the big centre forward at half time made a huge difference.
The game was well refereed and the crowd were excellent. A really good afternoon out. Thanks to both teams; far better than a bloody wedding.
I have written about it on a blog at www.salutsunderland.com. Should be up on Saturday.

Congratulations on being Champs.
Hope you see off Barwell now and we will meet at the Shay in near future.

Oh my days, oh my head!

Cannot believe the events of yesterday. Spoke with Youngy after the match and he was in as much of a state as us, totally drained.

Well done Skem. Well done the fans of CFC absolutely amazing turn out yesterday.

Yes, to take around 2,200+ is an unbelievable following - Garforth isn't exactly down the road either. On the way back to the Deva, our coach passed the Home Guard Club which was the venue for one of our first CFU meetings after CCFC had been killed off. There we were in Feb 2010 with no ground, no club - nothing.

Fast forward 14 months and there I was passing the same building as part of a nine coach convoy of Blues fans after witnessing us win our first major honour. Poignant.

Just getting used to being champions today. Its slowly sinking in. No point being disappointed at scraping home, the records will show we won it 2010/11 regardless.

1,100+ turned out for our victory party today at the ground, did you go Phil mate? Was only expecting 300 odd to come.

I've tried a couple of times to watch the NATV highlights but they never seem to load properly and neither did this one. garforth_toffee's highlights are here for anyone else having the same problem - http://www.youtube.com/user/garforthtoffee#p/a/u/0/nbGIAHGtlP0
