Bedlington Terriers are pleased to announce the signing of former Newcastle United Academy product Mark Doninger. Doninger signs for the club after a spell in Iceland with Stjarnan FC. Doninger has also played for Sligo Rovers, IA Akranes and Blyth Spartans, and comes in to solidify the Terriers midfield.
Doninger, 23, began his career and Newcastle United before signing with Blyth Spartans in 2008. After that Doninger moved to IA Akranes in Iceland and eventually ended up at Stjarnan FC.
Doninger is a talented centre midfield, with excellent on the ball ability and an eye for a pass. The player is a fantastic addition to the Bedlington squad, but will have to wait for his Terriers debut as he is still awaiting International clearance.
Club Chairman Ronan Liddane commented on the signing:
“This is another excellent signing for Bedlington, and a player who will fit in well with the philosophy here at Bedlington.”
“We are always on the lookout to improve the playing staff, and Doninger is a player we are excited to see but on the red strip of Bedlington.”
