Peter Lax R.I.P

Billingham Synthonia FC is saddened to hear of the passing away yesterday afternoon of Peter Lax. Peter was a Synners player; went onto become Manager and Chairman of the club, and was always a popular figure around the Football Club. He was also a member of the Northern League Management committee until illness. Funeral arrangements to be announced.

Just heard the sad news. My first game as a secretary in the Nothern League was away to Synners and Peter Lax and Graham Craggs were a massive help to me on the day as I was thrown in at the the deep end. Peter was a great man and a lover of Synners and football in general. He will be sorely missed.

Sad to hear about the passing away of Peter. Brilliant fellow. Always had time to stop and ask about you, a firm handshake and a joke.

Peter Lax. Served local sport in Billingham for 50 years and has been a valued member of the Northern League management committee since 1988. He played both cricket and football with Billingham Synthonia and had football trials with England schools. As an administrator, he's held every possible position with the Synners but his greatest gift is his warm personality and ability to make others laugh.

Peter's funeral will take place at Middlesbrough crematorium on Thursday December 13th at 11am. A reception will follow at Synners’ clubhouse.
