Well the last week has certainly made the season a lot more enjoyable, four games played 9 points acquired & but for a poor refereeing decision could have been 10 points. The run of games started last Tuesday with a narrow 3-2 defeat away to Whickham in which the players battled hard & deserved a point but for Whickham to grab the winner in the final minutes under controversial circumstances. Goal scorers were Quine & Mohamed.

Then on Thursday we entertained Billingham Town which saw a controlled performance gain a deserved 2-1 victory with goals from Joel Parkinson & a Kyle Morris penalty.

Saturday we played West Allotment at Consett and many thought this would give our opposition an advantage as they too play their home games on an artificial surface. Crook started very sluggishly and West Allotment took full advantage to take a 1-0 lead which they held until half time. I don't know if it was what was in the tea cups or the throwing of them that made the difference after the restart but Crook were much improved and duly equalised from a Ryan Coles header and took the lead through Adam Lee-Shields. West Allotment equalised from the penalty spot but cometh the man cometh the hour super sub Dan Quine scored what would be the match winner tapping in at the back post with practicly his first touch of the ball. A mention must go out to Dan Scott with some great saves to get us the 3 points.

Then last night Crook travelled to Thornaby & again started slowly but unlike West Allotment, Thornaby were unable to capitalise on this with both teams very wastefull in possesion meaning it was 0-0 at the break. Then the game turned on an early second half goal, Dan Quine ran onto a through ball held off 2 defenders before smashing it into the top corner giving the keeper no chance, the game was then made safe by Kyle Morris who turned in the box and hit a daisy cutter that squirmed under the keeper.

I must mention Wayne Gredziak who has been a catalyst to the upturn in performances and results by his experience and leadership on the field, but while Wayne has been singled out for praise everyone who has been involved in these last 4 games has been magnificent in their attitude and commitment to the club.
