Come on then Shieldsman as asked, para 5 - date and name the game AND the writer for the interest of readers, anyone reading it should be quite easily able to tell it's just a wind-up, so I wonder who REALLY concocted it eh ? Now then that would be telling .....

Yet another dismal performance by the officials, with far too many poor and late indecisive decisions that won few friends amongst the crowd on both sides. The NL has more than its quota of such indifferent officials it seems on this seasons showing.

posted april 2010---sour grapes...............................

oh and the para 5 was posted aug 28th 2009 ..... v Consett 1st by you and the reply by Shanks with another reply by him later the same day

sour grapes..........................................

:D :) :o  :?   :!: :?: :x   :idea:Good point said. We can't keep blaming the ref and looking for other things to blame other than the ability of the team. The ref had a poor game, but the sendings off where justified.

of coiurse you are not a referee hater................................. :? 8) :x

First I stand by anything and everything I have ever said in all my comments and reports on the South Shields FC forum and NonLeagueZone.

'Shieldsmans' paragraph 5 of his post of January 14, 3.47pm is a studiously contrived mixture of two threads ( nos. 4 & 6 ) actually written by 'Shanks' on August 28, 2009 following the South Shields home defeat by Consett 0 : 1, and this written as the impression is given by 'Passtheball'. It consists of a 'doctored' text with several unscripted additions from 'Shanks' original two texts, and is complete with incorrect grammar. Further - reading the complete post - to be found on page 12 of the forum, topic 31, under the heading 'WORST EVER REF' written by 'Overheresononmehead' begins with "Worst ever ref I can remember in over 30 years of watching football" and continues ...There are 10 threads on this post, with 'Passtheball' at No. 5, which makes for interesting reading, being innocuous in comparison.

It is instructive to also read "SOUTH SHIELDS v BEDLINGTON 3 : 2 AET" League Cup Quarter Final, Wednesday, March 4th 2010, on page 8, topic no. 7, and I quote from 'Passtheball' report "The referee Mr McDonough,(a Premier League linesman) fully deserves all the plaudits for being the best seen at Filtrona Park this season. No bookings, no whistles and a game that flowed without interruption" and continues to conclude " an outstanding referee"

To conclude, CONSETT O : SOUTH SHIELDS 2, Wednesday, April 21, 2010 by Passtheball "Yet another dismal performance by the officials, with far too many poor and late decisions that won few friends amongst the crowd on both sides" and continues to end.

'Shieldsmans" spoof of Tuesday, April 28, 2009 SOUTH SHIELDS v BEDLINGTON. Wrong date and game, with no text on which to comment, spurious error on his part.

Not as described by him as a 'ref hater' by any means, but one who will call a spade a spade, and a bucket even at times if need be, credit where credit is due, and brick bats if not, but like many who follow NL football, poor match officials are too prevalent it seems these days., as much adverse comment is there to be read about them regularly on NLZ. So never mind the jibe 'take the course etc', I pay my money at the gate, so fair game, fair comment .....

Nothing wrong with saying a ref has had a poor game, and made poor decisions. we do that to players, they have a poor game and make poor decisions. I referee myself, and it is difficult and you do make mistakes. But its the simple decisions that some refs get wrong for some reason or the big one, consistant!! A lot of refs are not consistant enough and easily forget the decisions they have made during the game. There are some good refs in the NL1 but also some poor ones too. I don't think people blame a ref for losing, unless its a silly disallowed goal, but you can blame a ref for spoiling a game or not being consistant with his decisions for both teams. I think this is what gets people to blame or call referee's. I should know, i have played and refereed and can see both points of view. :D
