Any feedback on how the talk in went? Any issues raised or addressed? Do you Shields supporter think it was a worthwhile exercise?

Try keep this topic sensible, I have genuine interest in how it went.

The talk-in lasted two hours, and the many questions, queries, topics and comments raised by the audience to the team manager and his two assistants plus the club secretary and his assistant on a wide range of related subjects were honestly and candidly replied too, concerning all aspects of the team, the squad, and it's performances plus and minus from pre season to where the club is now. The opportunity was given to all with concerns to attend and to speak their mind in a public invitation issued on the club forum, the Filtrona Park public address system and this forum and taken by the audience for many searching questions to be tabled and the answers were given squarely and sincerely, nothing put to the panel was evaded, parried or half answered. The object of the exercise was for those interested in South Shields FC to be present and to have an opportunity to ask any question face to face with any panel member on any topic, and in this the club and team management and club representatives acquitted themselves honestly and with credit. These comments from the SSFC Supporters Association membership assistant secretary, as one who had several pointed questions to pose ....

This was not of the club's volution, the Supporters Association requested the club to convene a talk-in and it was nothing even remotely approaching a PR exercise, nor was it ever intended to be. It was to address some repeated public expressions of unfounded negativity, which it did ...
No excuses were made by the panel, nor do they need to, and for precisely what if any ?
Those who were not present for whatever reasons, missed their opportunity.
The meeting was openly transparent and correctly conducted in a business like manner.
The club does indeed have a future plan, as has been demonstrated by the progress and stability achieved since the new committee took over the club in 2006, and it continues to work to a plan, in spite of problems in the current economic climate, common to many clubs.
Those few who wish to find fault with the club are ignored by the many genuine supporters.

so basically it was a talkng shop about how the management cocked up but this time couldn,t wangle out of it unlike the last time when the committee vetted the questions. and the loyal fans say yes Gary its ok Gary you are god Gary bit like the old Carry On films Carry On Regardless.............. as for a forward plan obviously there isnt one "just remain the same" as for the negativity well it was a case of "we'll listen to you but hey we havent a clue how to move forwad so stop moaning and just let us continue in our safe jobs and we will be alright!"..... no change there then
thanks for the answer just what potential suupporters in south shields needed to hear......pointless

Alright mate - it was a good night.

Plenty of topics covered, everyone got a chance to ask questions and it must have been over two hours that the management faced questions.

Very worthwhile!

all there has been so far are answers that politicians give when they dont want to expand and want to hide what was said for fear of the truth being made open to a wider public??? so where is the substance, people would like to hear the detail

The opportunity was there for all to attend and ask questions, I was surprised at the honesty of the management team, no one can say they didn't get a straight answer to the question they asked, thats for sure.

One can be very sure that 99.99% of people reading these comments have formed the same opinion and conclusion...... South Shields FC is as patently obvious to the world at large administered by people with experience in the game, and with qualifications and business acumen in professional life, with a belief, passion and desire to succeed, backed by an independent supporters association many clubs would wish to have with ability, experience and knowledge in many avenues. One undeniable fact of life, you cannot spend what you have not got, more is the pity, unless you have the very good fortune of Bedlington Terriers FC, and good luck to them. As has been said now on numerous occasions over the course of the last two years, whatever anti-South Shields FC rant this "Shieldsman" ( ? ) wishes to indulge himself in on this forum cuts absolutely no ice with all the aforementioned, full stop, period, ad infinitum....a dissenting voice with a particular axe to grind and an odious vendetta that should give those who know him well cause for concern.
