The 250 membership plus Supporter's Association's latest venture will be held on Friday, October 29th in King Street, the main street of South Shields,10.00am - 4.00pm with a large double stall to promote association membership recruitment, and also to raise public interest and support on behalf of South Shields Football Club. The stall will be manned by members wearing SSFC colours, and will be attractively decorated with 75 balloons in club colours of claret, sky blue and white, and several large club flags. The interesting display will include and feature a selection of club merchandise with a large poster price list, a large coloured poster advertising the next Saturday home game, various leaflets and current publicity photographs, miscellaneous items of club memorabilia of historic interest, including photographs and programmes from the club's Football League Division Two career of the 1920's and down the years since, association membership forms, a poster with details of the club's weekly cash draw, flyers with details of forthcoming home games, a FREE raffle with several mystery prizes and 1,000 give away South Shields FC stickers for kids, members with noisey rattles, a hooter and megaphone, and with also local newspaper coverage before the event, and a photograph thereafter. In bringing the town football club into the main street to promote, publicise and advertise its activities, to seek more local support at its matches and attract more financial sponsorship from the local business community, it is also an opportunity for local people to see and ask what South Shields Football Club is all about, and local non-league 'grass roots' football in the STL Northern League. This is a continuation of recent club and association events as the 'Festival of Football' held with numerous junior sides, including a team from Holland, a golf tournament held at South Shields Golf Club, a coast to coast sponsored team bike ride, a bag packing day in the town's new ASDA superstore, a 'booze cruise' on a River Tyne ferry, all of which have been most successful and hugely enjoyable.
