South Shields FC with a recently boosted squad of now 23 players began its programme of pre-season training at Filtrona Park this afternoon together with a few trialists. Also Jon King, ex manager of Morpeth Town FC has joined the management and coaching staff of the club. Further midweek sessions will be held at Littlehaven on the seafront on Tuesday and Thursday evening. Up to the minute new indoor training facilities are now also available to the club at two local locations, so problems that were experienced during the prolonged winter bad weather that completely disrupted training will not recur again.

Shieldsman.....for ur information there was only 5 Morpeth players signed, I should know this as I am one of them. And Im quite confident in myself tht I can do a job for SSFC alond with the other players signed. U dont know half the crap tht went on at Morpeth but we still managed to keep a handful of quality players, but as u well know u need a side of 11 quality players, not just 5, or the inevitable do's happen! Ya may have lost a few good players but from wot i have seen yav signed players just as good, if not better. Give us a chance instead of pulling us down before we've even started..........dont judge a book by its cover!

Yep, still no apology from you shieldsman for all the stuff you have said over past 2 years.

The players coming in are more than capable of building a strong team with the others at shields. Players looked bright in first training session and on that evidence they should be in good shape come season start. Got a few pre season games for players to gel and make their mark for the team. Brysa, just ignore the comments from shieldsman as it don't matter what the club does, he will never have a good word to say.

The SSFC squad full list of players is confirmed as of today as follows:
13 players have re-signed from last season's squad, and these are - Armstrong, Brabbs, Carmichael, Fitzpatrick, Gaffney, Graham, 0'Brien, Parkin, Ramsey, Rodenby, Scroggins, Stephenson and Wightman. Five left - Coe, Feasey, Lawson, Oates and Paxton. A total of ten players have been signed, all incidentaly from Morpeth FC, including one signed today. These are Peter Bryson - midfield, Anthony Burnell - forward, Paul Haxon - defender, Chris Hutchinson - winger, Chris Shanks - defender, Barry Smith winger, Paul Stonehouse - centre half, Sean Sweeney - centre forward, Carl Thorpe - centre half, and Mark Grant - midfield. This makes a total squad of 23 players, the Morpeth goalkeeper was not signed, and he ironically comes from South Shields

so is this not true from the ssf forum or dont u know who ur team mates are 8)

Paul Stonehouse was at Walker Central, only on loan at Morpeth for a month, same as Chris Shanks, Burnell played 2 games, Hutchinson 4............the only Morpeth players signed are myself, Thorp, Haxon, Grant, Smith & Sweeney. So i stand corrected, its 6 and not the 5 i quoted. But if u dont like it Shieldsman no-one makes u come and watch do they!

Brysa, good to have you with us mate. First I'd like to say I love the attitude. Secondly, he doesn't come to watch mate.......but your perfomances will still be critisised when we lose and ignored when we win.............so just accept he's there sniping...............then ignore!!!

Good luck and welcome!

Cheers mate, im looking forward to getting started. Ive only seen a few of his comments and already know wot a daisy he is, im more than confident we will have a good season! Shieldsman clearly has nowt better to do other than slate his local side, if he gave us a chance and watched us then he'd know the players brought in are just as good as those who have left. Is he forgetting Shields were outplayed by Morpeth at the end of last season! Sweeney tortured the back 4 before going off injured, Thorpy was awesome at the back and I got mom after having Scroggins in my pocket, not bad id say Shieldsman!

He wouldn't have known that as he wasn't there. As they say though every village has one, and shieldsman is ours.

Good luck to the new lads, was at the morpeth game their lads did put up a bit of a game and Shields were not at their best. Scroggs was a bit quiet on the night but did put in a pin point pass off the bar for the centre forward playing with one leg to head home, have we signed the morperth defence  Again welcome to SSFC you will have our support once you pull on our shirt. Dont mind Shieldsman he's full of s***t and we know him as the village idiot anyway.
