Here are some thoughts, for what they're worth.
Is it me, or is it all a bit odd at The Weaver Stadium lately? It was a very strange team selection - one of the most lightweight line-ups I've ever seen. I know Mills has been off scoring form (and must stay onside!), but surely he had to start on a blustery day with so many of his team-mates either small (Cooke, Urwin, Foster) or weak tacklers (Maguire, Summerskill).
It was poor fare in the first half. The Dabbers completely wasted the advantage of having the wind at their backs by overhitting long balls instead of trying to play it simple. Having said that, I couldn't see what was wrong with Lenny's 'goal'. Kenny Dalglish used to score loads of goals like that. Perhaps it's easy to say Dabbers ought to have played easy balls, but those passes have to be available, and I'm not sure Flynny (as good as he is) is the neat ball-player their number 8 was. Summerskill looked lost and Maguire just doesn't impose himself on the game enough to warrant a central midfield berth, although he did battle hard in the second half and had 2 or 3 thrilling runs. He does look good with the ball at his feet and running at central defenders. McLachlan is a big miss and needs replacing quickly, unless Macca is going to play there. I thought he had a very good game at right back today. He got caught for pace a couple of times, and struggled to clear into a strong wind but was tenacious and made some great forward runs. His experience showed. Foster is a neat footballer and will be an asset with a bit more confidence. Mat Bailey is the best player I've seen in a Dabbers shirt in the 4 years I've been watching them. He was very good today. I thought it would be a backs-to-the-wall effort in the second half but he was strong and calm. Brain was man-of-the-match though for a string of excellent saves. He had to make too many because, I think, of the absence of a strong defensive midfielder.
Summerskill looks very skilfull but too lightweight for the way Dabbers played today. Are we supposed to be neat passing team, in which case Summerskill would be ideal or more direct? I can't see the plan.
I was pleased with the level of effort in a very enjoyable (almost pulsating!) second half, and we made some good chances because we've got a number of attacking threats. Lenny made a couple of excellent chances for himself but shot weakly. Cooke is always tricky but makes some poor decisions in good positions.
Sorry for rambling on, but it keeps me out of mischief.

We have a team packed with skillfull ball players, but seem to resort to the 'long ball' option far to often, we always look better when the ball is played on the floor to feet to our front two and playing it through the midfield.

I've never seen a ball over hit so many times as it was today, it's not exactly rocket science that to minimise the effect of the strong wind that was their today, get it down.

All our chances today came from playing it on the floor, and when it is hoofed forward it was coming back, as the forwards couldn't hold it up and the midfield were to far off the forwards to win the 2nd ball.

i thought it was a dire game between 2 very average sides, far too much hoof it football in blustery conditions. play like that on Tuesday and FC Utd will run up a cricket score.

Far too often "another starting line-up". We don't seem able to form a settled team for one reason or another. I think the only way we won't concede a "bag full" on Tuesday is if FC have to replay their FA trophy game!

I'm far from happy with the football at the minute its like neanderthals playing football, no thought, no process juts bloody kick it as far as you can in the air. Jimmy Quinn needs to wake up and smell the coffee and bloody quick, because there is no excuse with the quality of players he has at his disposal no excuse, we should be battling around the top 5, but we are falling away at a rate of knots

The thing for me this season was to steady the ship and not to rush for promotion, I would be happy for just above mid table this season and push on next season because for me Jimmy is finding his feet in non-league. He saved us last season and needs to get his name around the players from local teams because unlike league football the players are willing to move closer to their respctive clubs. I think we need to realise that the players have real jobs during the week so fatigue can set in and effect the way we play.

Our players are good enough Si to be challenging the top 5, and as for finding his feet in the non-league he has spent quite alot of time managing in the Conference he is more than aware of the non-league. Alot of our players are getting alot of enquiries from clubs higher in the leagues, some of them will not be here next year there is no doubt about it unless we get promoted and Quinny has already upset a few players too which is just not helping matters, I can't see Nantwich being able to attract these sort of players again particularly in the short term, so we need to be making the most of the opportunity in front of us before it is gone!

Players and the fans do not pick the team. If we did i would want more local lads in the team as for players getting attention of other clubs it happens and we move on or they might just be trying to get a wage rise. It has been said on here before we are a small Market Town how far do you want to push because the high we go the more expensive it becomes for the club and for the fans. we have not got the fan base in my opinion to go much higher if Steve Davis turns the Alex around how many will stay loyal to the club then. Thats all i am saying coming on here saying that the manager should wake up and smell the coffee or he needs to realise the players will walk that just underminds the Manager.
