There could be one from the North East, some ex-Conference team apparently  .

Maybe Frickley for the other spot?

I would be suprised if Darlington go into the Northern league, they will groundshare with shildon which we all know and will play in the evo premier however if the FA see that more rules have been broken then its Div 1 north.

I hope that you know this for a fact and that you're not just presuming this?

Evo Prem, possibly 1, sounds better than being down in the Northern League, especially considering common consensus indicates that the Northern League would be more difficult to escape than Evostik 1.

I can see New Mills being moved from Division 1 South to Division 1 North with Frickley Athletic and Burscough coming down from the Premier League and Ramsbottom United from the NWCL with Harrogate Railway and Cammell Laird being reprieved from relegation.

Frickley aren't coming down

Must be Goole to transfer from the Southern Division?

Surely the relegation of Northwich (to the South presumably) will mean that Frickley will get a reprieve?

My first reaction when I read that you could see NM being moved North was "not a chance", but having studied things for a while, I can actually see the possibility of that happening.

With no promotion from the Northern League or the NCEL, the only teams likely to be promoted to Step 4 are Rammy from the NWCL (as you said) and Gresley from the MFA. Gresley would undoubtedly go to the South along with Chasetown, Mickleover and Northwich.

With the relegation of Woodley Sports and the resignation of Durham City, the North division would still be two teams short after Rammy and Burscough are factored in. This could mean that NM and one other (Sheffield maybe, or even Northwich) could be placed in the North. If it were to be done purely on who is furthest North, it could even be Goole Town and Brigg Town.

This would suggest (in my opinion) that Quorn and Shepshed would be reprieved in the South, although a news item on the NCEL website suggests that these two will be relegated. Personally, I can't readily see a way to work it other than a reprieve for these two unless they also promote Runcorn Town and Bootle from the NWCFL, but based on track record, there isn't a snowball's chance in hell of that happening.

apparently there are 14 divisions at step 5 to fight for 12 places, word has it that only champions of their league will be eligible for promotion to step 4.

Not strictly true, but close.

Ten League Champions will be promoted. The other four are either ineligible or they haven't applied. Retford from the NCEL, for example, have had their application turned down for reasons of 'governance' whilst Spennymoor from the Northern League haven't applied.

The twelve will be made up by two Runners-up.

Bridlington, runners-up in the NCEL, were third in the list of runners-up on average points per game so failed to get promoted. The first two have been promoted, but I'm not sure who they are at the moment.

As I said, it is unlikely to happen which is why I suspect that Quorn and Shepshed will get reprieves and there will be some shuffling between North and South.

But don't forget, it is only four seasons ago that both Trafford and Salford City were promoted to the NPL from the NWCFL Division One.

EDIT: The two promoted runners-up are Kings Lynn from the United Counties League and Shortwood United from the Hellenic League.

I know they have. That was the news item on the NCEL website to which I referred earlier.

But without that or some strange shuffling about affecting a large number of leagues within the pyramid, I'm at a loss to see how they are going to replace the relegated teams from Division 1 North.

"Darlington".

We could just jump into the Evo 1N, easy as you like.

I don't think that would help.

In that situation, I would think that there there would be a reprieve for another of the clubs in the NPLPrem. Of course, this could be one of the teams heading for Division 1 South, which would then leave both Division 1 leagues a team short.

What category of ground grading does Dean Street have?
