I've had a look round my garden just in case - found some leaves & a compost heap. Where did I go wrong? Wonder what the Wakefield fans think about having paid their entrance fees to fund an (alleged) dealer....sorry, gardener.

Del was a very popular player for us!

He had his own band of youthful supporters but I think it harsh to even suggest we funded an (alleged) dealer/gardener!

We have some certain reprobates in our not to distance past!

So he 'finds' 7 & a half grands worth of crazy stuff & a shooter in his neighbours garden - I would suggest that marks him down as a less than good person. Presumably he took a wage from Wakefield FC (he played for you in the days when you had crowds) - funded in some part from gates receipts, ergo I would stand by my earlier statement.

years ago, when Nigel Danby played for Ossett Town, his father Keith Danby used to tell us all sorts of tales about local football in Leeds. One i remember is about one of the Harding brothers who were involved with many local non league teams, he got involved in a dispute and had one of his arms severed by a machete.

There was another well known non league player from Leeds, i can't remember his name, he got shot but survived.

A few years ago, when Jimmy Martin was Ossett Albion manager,he had quite a few lads from Huddersfield playing for Albion; in one reserve game, one of them was subjected to some racial abuse from an away team player, Regis was sent off in the incident and he went back to the dressing room, only to come back out again 5 minutes later with a machete and walked back onto the field, but the other Albion players restrained him and dragged him back into the dressing room.

The recent nonsense at Sheffield Wednesday during the Leeds match reminds me of when the Leeds City railway station was shut down one Saturday night about 10 years ago after a mass brawl at the Weatherspoons pub inside the station, it turned out the Sheffield Wednesday players were in Leeds for a night out, starting at the Weatherspoons, there was some witty banter with the locals which quickly got out of hand, the bouncers on duty got a good hiding from the Sheffield Wednesday players and the police had to go in mob handed to sort it all out.

WTF was he doing with a machete in the dressing rooms? Where did he hide it?

i have to admit i wondered about that too when i heard the tale all those years ago, who the hell goes to a football match with something like that in their bag? I mentioned the name Regis, that could be wrong, but it certainly wasn't Charlie Bradshaw (he would have just told his abuser to chill) or Hanson Jerome, who would have it settled there and then with his fists.
