What did I say before the season started about New Mills being in the play offs at the end of the season? Although in saying that I did also tip Curzon Ashton to win the league.

Early days yet. We've only played six.

However, the next game is at Goole which ought to be a win for us, especially as they are now managerless, but you never know.

We had our best performance of the season tonight, but were still under a lot of pressure for much of the last half hour.

With us, it is a case of which heads the team have on for the game.

We got absolutely slaughtered after a particularly inept performance at home to Warrington a few weeks ago and also exited the FA Cup at Carlton Town with a similar performance in a game which we could and possibly should have won if we had played for the whole ninety minutes like we did in the last ten of the first half and the last fifteen of the second.

I still stand by what I said at the start of the season, you will be in the play offs at the end of the season or at the very least very close to them. I honestly believe that.

There must have been some fans from Garforth there as i got a couple of updates presumably from the ground , having said that a crowd of 48 were there according to the Evostick website , now its not saying owt new that several of us Garforth fans have stopped going to games but its not much of a turnout .

I suspect a fair few Ossett Town fans went to watch Ossett Albion play Hinckley United in the FA Cup replay last night.

Well I wasn't sure that they do myself, but I can only presume that's why the attendance at the game was so low on Tuesday night when Ossett Albion were playing a big game themselves on the same night?

When you look at it there are quite a few low attendances midweek nowadays , especially in the various cup competitions , mebbe people can't be bothered to attend on a night as much as they used to , i like night games meself under the floodlights , having said that i havn,t been to a night game as yet this season .

Oh yes I agree, but that was a league game on Tuesday night. I know attendances are poor for midweek games these days but 48 does seem amazingly low. I am still saying it was the Ossett Albion V Hinckley United game that was to blame. At that game there was an attendance of 222, a fair few of whom might well have gone to Ossett Town under normal circumstances I think.

they do, i used to do the same myself years ago, so you soon realised the same folk were watching both clubs. Of course, you had the die hard Albion supporters and the die hard Town supporters ( i say "die hard", because some of them used to run around with no shoes on, wearing string vests, shouting "yippee kye ay mother f**kers"); but you had those folk who just wanted to watch a game of football and if there was a fixture clash, would pick the best looking game to attend. The other night, had i been bothered, i would have picked the Hinckley game, not even the chance to see Simon Clifford levitating in mid air would have tempted me up to Ingfield.

Its sad to see isnt it, such a poor crowd - especially when you consider what a great game it must have been. Certainly deserves better support.

Is 5-5 a great game though ? , mebbe entertaining for a neutral , but not for the respective fans of either club , am doing me Alan Hanson bit here but give me a tight 1-0 win anytime , i prefer to see teams defending properly .
