DURHAM CITY v BILLINGHAM TOWN PREVIEW

Matchday nine is the first of six away games coming up at the end of September and throughout October. Town also travel to Tow Law Town and Crook Town in the league and cup competitions are to be played at Easington Colliery, Gateshead and Guisborough Town respectively. Sandwiched in between is an FA Vase home tie against division one highflier’s Dunston UTS and a top of the table derby against Thornaby. It should prove to be an exciting month for supporters.

FOCUS ON DURHAM:
Former manager Oliver Hotchkiss performed miracles in recent seasons but decided to try his luck at Washington and took the majority of Durham’s squad with him. Subsequently, Mikey Weston took over the reigns but after a disastrous start, Weston parted ways with the club. Despite an excellent opening day season win against Willington, Durham have failed to pick up any points since then and no Durham City player has scored since Wayne Gredziaks strike was enough to see off Willington in a 1-0 victory. As a result, the squad is difficult to assess in any great detail. In their recent 7-0 defeat to Easington, Durham should have scored a couple of goals and one player did catch the eye. Winger Logan Powell caused the full back plenty of problems and could be a potential dangerman on the day.

ONE TO WATCH: GLEN DONALDSON
Probably the smallest player in the Northern League but the diminutive midfielder is talented and tidy on the ball. Played for Billingham Synthonia in division one and has since moved on to the now defunct Norton & Stockton Ancients and Darlington Railway Athletic before joining the Citizens during the summer.

RECENT RESULTS:
Jarrow 3-0 Durham
Durham 0-2 Northallerton
Birtley 2-1 Durham (og)
Durham 0-1 Esh Winning
Durham 0-5 Seaham Red Star (FA Vase)
Durham 0-3 Chester Le Street
Easington 7-0 Durham
Redcar 4-0 Durham

Last season: Durham City 1-1 Billingham Town

TALKING TOWN:
Reece Kenney is expected to be out until Christmas with a broken ankle which was sustained during the FA Vase win against AFC Campion. Mark Dixon may not have dislocated his shoulder and could be back in action within ten days. Oliver Simpson returns to the squad after missing the West Allotment Celtic victory but Lee Moore is away on holiday. Not including own goals, Town have had sixteen different goal scorers this season. Craig Hutchinson leads the way with eight goals followed by Jamie Davis on four. On the eve of the West Allotment game, Dominic Joynes signed for Billingham Synthonia.
