BILLINGHAM TOWN v BILLINGHAM SYNTHONIA PREVIEW
Easter Monday, 17th April, Bedford Terrace, k.o 11.00 am

Potentially, this could well be the final Billingham derby in its current form. And if Town want to earn the bragging rights, they will need a good performance in the knowledge that a defeat for the Synners could yet put a spanner in the works when it comes to deciding who finishes in the third and final promotion place. Much depends on results over the weekend; Synthonia host Willington and Town require a win at Esh Winning. Heaton Stannington's home defeat to Thornaby in midweek, virtually ended their aspirations for promotion. Presuming Synners won against Willington then Town would require three wins (Esh, Synners and Tow Law) and hope Brandon cause an upset on the final day of the season!

THE SYNNERS: HOW THEY MATCH UP
The future for Synthonia, as a Billingham club could be a thing of the past. A recent press release confirmed that the club, founded by the old I.C.I, planned to leave Central Avenue and move into Norton & Stocktons Ancients ground, for a period of two seasons. The danger of such a move, could be a loss of identity and apathy from the fans but only time will tell. On the pitch, the Synners have been consistent for the majority of the season apart from a slight dip in form after the Boxing Day derby that ended in a drab 0-0. It's sad to think that the match which housed a large Town following, could well be the last ever Billingham derby held at Central Avenue. So, to some degree, the actual game will be part of a much bigger picture. Will Synthonia be focused on the game or will off the pitch events leave an indelible mark? How will Town react to the possibility of becoming the only club in Billingham and will they stamp their authority by gaining an overdue win against our rivals? Both sides have enough quality to suggest that anything could happen on the day and both sides have match winners. For Synners it's Gateshead bound Macaulay Langstaff and for Town, mercurial striker Craig Hutchinson who has found it tough going against the top sides. Both clubs have a talisman at the back; For Synners it's Jason Rowbotham and for Town, skipper and giant, Stephen Oakley. In midfield the creative spark comes from Chay Liddle and Antony Peacock while for Town, Jamie Davis and Chris Dickinson will search for pockets of space. The pressure is all on the Synners having dropped points against Whickham, Esh Winning and Team Northumbria in recent weeks and it could prove difficult for them to recover their form, as Town found to their cost after the Ryton defeat.

RECENT RESULTS/AWAY FORM/DERBY HISTORY:
Whickham 2-0 Billingham Synthonia
Billingham Synthonia 3-2 Tow Law (Steel, Langstaff 2)

Billingham Synthonia 1-2 Team Northumbria (Steel)
Northallerton 2-1 Billingham Synthonia (EAMC Winter)

SQUAD NEWS:
Town have a full squad available with no new suspensions or injuries to report. Luckily for Elliott Beddow and Luke Hogan, neither received the expected one game bans for picking up a certain number of yellow cards and both Jamie Davis and Mattie Crossen are available (only received one game bans for their respective red cards). Jack Connor has been advised to rest his sprained ankle for up to three weeks but will reassess the situation over the weekend.

SQUAD FROM:
Leeds, Moore, Redman, Dixon, Crossen, Oakley, Ridley, Osmond, Macdonald, Keogh, Dunlavey, Hogan, Lavan, Beddow, Dickinson, Davis, Hutchinson.

OLIVERS OPUS:
Games against synners are always going to take interest more so for the fans bragging rights, but this derby is going to be different for several reasons around we might not be playing them again good or bad as it may seem but that's football I'm afraid!
For whatever the outcome may be on the day we certainly cannot complain for the season we have acheived , the continuity this club has had over the last two seasons is remarkable and quite simply down to players desire and attitude where it matters on the pitch but more so the fans support is second none and while I've openly said clubs would love our fan base let's remind the green and white from over the road our support is only going to get bigger and better!
This club is building for the future I can honestly say there is no big time Charlie's here and we certainly don't pay players just because they think they can demand what they want quite simply we do the opposite. We offer the deal on a take it or leave it basis then move on; my players have been nothing short of class this season and to get three points against our so called rivals will finish the season off for them and our fans. UTT!!
