The cup runs brought a much needed boost and kick started the season. Now its time to move on and complete the ultimate aim..... Promotion! Town need a win in the knowledge that next week is a free weekend and Town don't have another league game until February 11th, at home to Easington Colliery. Stockton Town, Team Northumbrian, Synthonia, and Blyth Town look to be the serious dangers now with Easington still having an outside chance.

The Opposition:
Along with Stockton Town, Blyth Town have enjoyed success in their maiden year amongst the established northern league clubs. They got off to a poor start to the season as they acclimatised to the rigours of life in division two. The early highlights included a comfortable 4-2 win over Town but since November, they have become dark horses for promotion. The focal point of Blyth's line up is the much travelled Malcolm Morien; The experienced striker has played for Whitley Bay, Dunston and Blyth Spartans. Top scorer, Gary Day is still recovering from a groin operation and won't be back in action for another two or three weeks. Blyth signed former Burnley man Jack Errington last week and he once needed heart surgery while playing for the Lancashire club. Errington signed on from Heaton Stanington along with Michael Riley who scored in midweek against Team Northunbria. Bishop Auckland youth player Zak Atkinson came in to bolster the attack and impressed on his debut against Northallerton. Veteran Ian Herron will command the central midfield areas and the vastly experienced terrier dominated play back in August when Town underperformed.

Recent Results:
Blyth Town 3-3 Team Northumbria
Blyth Town 4-0 Darlington RA
Northallerton 2-3 Blyth Town
Blyth Town 5-0 Bedlington Terriers
Synthonia 3-2 Blyth Town
Blyth 3-1 Easington Colliery

Today is our first ever home league fixture against Blyth Town. The reverse game ended in a 4-2 defeat.

League Position:
Town 4th Blyth Town 5th

Squad News:
Mark Dixon has completed his two match ban and Jamie Davis returns from illness. Danny Rowbotham and Matty Osmond also return after missing the cup defeat in midweek. Two new faces join the club if the paperwork goes through in time. Midfielder Josh Keogh arrives from Northallerton with Aaron Foley set to be out longer than expected; Keogh also played for the Synners this season and is a former Town player. Striker Kyle Morris signs from Wearside League club Coxhoe Athletic. The twenty four year old has scored thirteen goals in twelve appearances this season.

Squad From (subject to change's):
Dawson, Moore, Rowbotham, Dixon, Oakley, Crossen, Connor, MacDonald, Lavan, Davis, Osmond, Keogh, Hogan, Beddow, Dickinson, Hutchinson.

Popp's Pointers:
Me and Baz went to watch Blyth v Team North and they are very direct back to front with the ball as quick as they can but at times they can play some decent football as well. They are a tall side and play as a 4-4-2; They have a big set lad up top who will be a handful until he tired. They are good going forward but are very suspect at the back, especially the fullbacks, but we think if we get back to our passing game then we should win. I think this is a massive game and could be pivotal for us especially if we win to put us in third spot and to give us a bigger gap from fourth and fifth spot with games in hand but Blyth will be thinking the same thing!! COYB!! UTT!!
