TOW LAW PREVIEW

We are almost half way through the league season and the opening day draw at home to Tow Law seems like yesterday!! Town battered the Lawyers in the first half but only gained a point for their efforts and this game has an element of revenge about it. Saturday could be a good time to catch them as they have struggled at home in the league but the biggest danger may come from mother nature! The forecast predicts heavy rain, followed by snow on the Thursday and then low temperatures right up to kick off.

The Opposition:
The Lawyers have relied on their excellent away form to keep them away from a potential relegation battle. Although their home form is modest, they did pick up points against Stockton and Synthonia. The majority of the squad that took part in our 2.2 draw are still at the club. Veteran striker Kevin Thexton scored the Lawyers first goal that afternoon and in all probability, he will be the danger man but so could sixteen year old Kelvin Thear who scored on Wednesday night at North Shields. Former Crook Town centre half Matthew Soulsby can also play as an unorthodox centre forward or in central midfield. Kai Hewitson returns from suspension but Liam Whitworth is out with a one match ban. Manager Stephen Murray recently brought in the experienced Scott Oldfield from Guisborough Town. If the game does go ahead, Town can expect heavy conditions underfoot and the ball should travel faster at altitude.

Recent Results:
North Shields 4-1 Tow Law (League Cup)
Darlington RA 0-3 Tow Law
Tow Law 1-1 Northallerton
Tow Law 2-1 Team Northumbria (League Cup)
Tow Law 2-2 Billingham Synthonia
Tow Law 2-3 Hartlepool United (DCC)

Last Season: Tow Law 2 Billingham Town 1
League Position: Tow Law 15th Town 9th

Squad News:
Stephen Oakley completes his three match suspension but if the game is postponed, he would then miss next Wednesday nights EA Memorial Trophy tie at Hebburn Town. Both Jack Connor and Ashley Lavan return to the squad but Lee Jones is out with a niggling injury that has prevented him taking part in recent weeks. Connor Dunlavey managed forty five minutes in midweek without any mishaps to his hamstring and could be among the substitutes. Luke Hogan and Jamie Davis both have knocks but should be ok to start if selected. Daniel Lambert is still waiting upon a date for his spinal injection. The breaking news on Thursday afternoon was the signing of Matthew Osmond from Synthonia. Last seasons player of the year, Osmond adds further strength to the midfield and will be another fantastic addition to the squad. Carl O'Sullivan and Scot Close return back to the reserves.

Popp's Pointer's:
Tow law is a tough place to go and always cold even in the summer but once again we will be going there wanting to come back with the 3 points to keep us rising up the league table. As always it's about how we prepair for the game and getting the lads in the right frame of mind from the minute we get there and throughout the warm up and hopefully they will take this into the game. As long as we move the ball about the pitch like we can do and at a quick pace then in my opinion we should have too much going forward for them and do what we should of done at our ground in the opening game and win!! UTT!!

Other News:
With Town in FA Vase action on December 3rd at Bottesford Town, the league game against Willington is now pencilled in for Tuesday 28th March.

Weather: Light Cloud 2° (but could feel -12°!!)
