that's your lot. I know I kept some records for another couple of years, but they've gone missing. I stopped keeping records after the 2001-02 season. Most of the info above came from the match day programmes of that era, the programme editor for most of that time was Bruce Saul. I helped out at the club in the mid 90's, doing the programme for a time and also started to do some research into the clubs history. The history you see on Wikipedia is an expanded version of the history I wrote after John Carter's death. I also looked at Frank Lloyd's own records that he kept as the football secretary, the same with Gerry Froggett who was reserve team secretary. After we won promotion to the NPL, Frank stood down after nearly 30 years service as the secretary to be replaced by former Radio Leeds reporter Trevor Green, who also did the programme. Trevor was replaced by ex NCEL referees secretary Steve Andrews, while the programme was done by football chairman Peter Wilkinson and his son Andy Wilkinson, who later went to work for Crewe Alexandra. Bruce eventually took over as football secretary and also did the programme again.

I dare say I have made mistakes in the records I have listed on this thread, some of these mistakes were probably mistakes I made back then, for instance, I can't believe Dave Watts didn't make any appearances in the 1995-96 season, I know he was with us that season, and certain players refused to play for the first team while Wayne Day was manager, but Dave was not one of them, so I can only think I accidently left his name off the list when I compiled the end of season list back in the 1996.

I will start another thread giving further details about some of the players above, but that might be a while yet while I put all the info together for that one.

loving this, don't know why by I do like stats!!!

Do you know of anyone who may have pre NCEL info, how many games Frank Lloyd played for example?

do you have the results for the first NPL season, they're the only gap I have - i've got results from NCEL days onwards.

Trevor Green is now working for a Welsh club I belive. Steve Andrews sadly died some years ago, his son Andrew is in the academy now and score Tuesday night.

mention of Trevor Green reminds me he used to kick off if the hospitality at the away matches was not to his liking. He once wrote a letter of complaint to Morecambe about the sandwiches they put on after a reserve match there; also the cup match at Emley, apparently they only gave our committee a plate of biscuits at half time. :D A good lad was Trevor, but he was a Bournemouth fan and he had a bit of a chip on his shoulder about Leeds United, I can't think why :?

here you are:

FA CUP
preliminary round, home to Chorley, lost 0-1

FA TROPHY
1st Round, away at Stafford Rangers, lost 0-3

LEAGUE CUP
the league surpassed themselves this time, all clubs split into groups of 5 or 6, all games to be played in December and January, when no one wants to come out anyway. clever, really clever. Winners of each group went through to the Quarter Finals.

Stocksbridge Park Steels, at home, drew 3-3
Altrincham, at home, lost 1-5
Ashton United, away, lost 1-3
Hyde United, away, lost 1-5

we finished bottom of our group.

WEST RIDING COUNTY CUP
1st Round, home to Armthorpe Welfare, won 5-0
2nd Round, away at Liversedge, won 5-1
3rd Round, away at Guiseley, won 3-2
Semi Final, away at Bradford Park Avenue, won 2-0
Final, at Woodlesford, lost 2-3 after extra time to Farsley Celtic.

I don't recall the Chorley game, they were a strong side though. The Stafford game I went to, we were lucky it was only 3-0. The League Cup was a shambles, I remember the Altrincham game, their manager was ex West Ham player Mark Ward, they were a class apart. The Armthorpe game was the last County Cup game I ever watched, I just couldn't be bothered standing in the freezing cold, with only 30 or 40 other silly beggars, watching a load of rubbish. Liversedge was a note worthy result, we went about 20 years or so without a win at Clayborn. Winning at Guiseley was always a good result, and Bradford were on a run of 6 successive wins when we knocked them out. Ultimately, Farsley summed up the frustration of the season, we were winning 2-1 with only a minute to go, Paul Ryan had the ball on the halfway line, he got tackled by a Farsley player, who went onto score the equaliser. In extra time, Farsley got the winner. I was in the clubhouse when our supporters and committee got back, you've never seen such angry people (well, outside an AGM anyway  ). Calls for Paul Ryan to be sacked and so on, which I thought was a bit harsh, but such was the mood.

Thinking back to Trevor Green, I used to put some rubbish in the programme in my time, but never did I ever offer a critique of Mussolini's torture methods like Trevor did. Not sure why he was talking about that anyway, I think he had read a book about Italian football. Trevor's mate was a bit odd too, apparently he was a train driver in London and used to travel down from Castleford every day. No wonder he always looked ill. He could be funny though, I saw him goad a Barnsley player in a pre season friendly to such an extent the Barnsley player spent most of the first half watching us instead of concentrating on his own game. He was probably glad to be on the other side of the pitch for the second half.

I remember the final at Woodlesford.

it was 1-1 at full time.

Gary Brook scored for us on 87 before the Paul Ryan incident, he conceeded a penalty in time added on.

Farsley scored two more in extra time before Chris Annan got a late consolation.
