Alsager Town’s Phoenix

Grassroots sport in Cheshire received a significant boost today following the news that Alsager Town FC have received a grant of £85,860 from the Football Foundation, the country’s largest sports charity.

The funding will allow Alsager Town to rebuild the clubhouse that was ravaged by fire in July 2011.

The new sports pavilion will comprise of a new meeting room, kitchen area and disabled, male and female toilet facilities.

Funded by the Premier League, The FA, and the Government (via Sport England), the Football Foundation is the country’s largest sports charity. Since it was launched in 2000, the Foundation has awarded around 8,000 grants worth more than £420m towards improving grassroots sport, which it has used to attract additional partnership funding of over £520m.

Terry Greer, Alsager Town FC Chairman, said: “Had we not been granted this fantastic award by the Football Foundation I couldn’t foresee the club being able to replace the building.”

Paul Thorogood, Chief Executive of the Football Foundation, said: “Alsager Town F.C. has been extremely energetic and has worked tirelessly in partnership with the Cheshire FA to secure this funding and I am thrilled to see their hard work rewarded with this substantial Football Foundation grant.

“The Foundation is committed to supporting projects like this one in Alsager and right across the country with money generously provided by the Premier League, The FA, the Government (via Sport England), who have been our core funders since 2000.”

Following on from this;

Alsager Town FC’s management are pleased to be able to announce that their grant from the Football Foundation for a new clubhouse has been rubber stamped and permission to commence the work has been given.

Since that permission was received there have been a couple of meetings between the contractors and club management and work is likely to commence on Monday 29th October.

The first job will be to put in the foundations for the clubhouse and then the ground-workers will make a start on the car park.

‘Spacebuilder’ of Manchester then have to complete the fitting out of the modular building and deliver it to Alsager.

It is expected that this phase of the work will take around six weeks but it is expected that the club house will be up and running just in time for Christmas.

Great news for a decent club.

Not seen the plans but im guessing the clubhouse and dressing rooms will be closer to the pitch so excluding the steps?

Hopefully the clubhouse will help entice the ''ultras'' back to the club or something similar, its always good to have a partisan opposition to look forward to if not for the banter.

In any case well done to the clubs committee. 8)

No. Club will be next to current dressing rooms.

car park to be sited on top where former clubhouse was sat.

The new clubhouse will lead to exciting developments for the football club which will hopefully be mirrored on the pitch
