Before I start please allow me to make a polite enquiry why this NWCL dedicated site gets so little traffic?
My apology if I'm missing a few chapters from the book but surely this place is an ideal forum for sensible people exchanging views and experiences concerning NWCL stuff? If I've missed the big reason WHY its so quite kindly let me know.
At the moment I can hear a distant bell and tumbleweed blowing through the place.
Surely its worth people contributing more and getting some feedback knocking about on all things NWCL?
Anyway, for what its worth, I went along to watch Glossop North End deservedly beat Barton Town from the NCEL in the FA Vase on Saturday (1st September). Thought it would be a classic, sadly it never happened. Bit scrappy with little consistency on the passing front, plenty of fluffed chances at either end with Glossop gradually taking (a minor) charge of the match. Barton could have easily caused extra time if they'd been more clinical in front of goal. Is it me, or do Glossop operate a really predictable game plan? Everything seems to be about splitting the opposition defence with balls through the channels (usually high above the channels).
It always seems a really big pitch at Surrey Street with loads of match balls being hoofed out the ground every other minute, I'm sure one hit an old lady on the back of the head in the nearby Tesco Supermarket. The clubhouse looks nice and the Tea Hut is one of the best in non league circles... the pies are excellent. Great views (when its sunny in September).
I've put something on 'Wheres The Tea Hut' more or less duplicating the above comments, I'm not doing long reports anymore, I'm also cutting down on photographs if its a ground I've been to before (as is happening more and more). Have a look if you want but don't expect anything special:
