Before I start please allow me to make a polite enquiry why this NWCL dedicated site gets so little traffic?

My apology if I'm missing a few chapters from the book but surely this place is an ideal forum for sensible people exchanging views and experiences concerning NWCL stuff? If I've missed the big reason WHY its so quite kindly let me know.

At the moment I can hear a distant bell and tumbleweed blowing through the place.

Surely its worth people contributing more and getting some feedback knocking about on all things NWCL?

Anyway, for what its worth, I went along to watch Glossop North End deservedly beat Barton Town from the NCEL in the FA Vase on Saturday (1st September). Thought it would be a classic, sadly it never happened. Bit scrappy with little consistency on the passing front, plenty of fluffed chances at either end with Glossop gradually taking (a minor) charge of the match. Barton could have easily caused extra time if they'd been more clinical in front of goal. Is it me, or do Glossop operate a really predictable game plan? Everything seems to be about splitting the opposition defence with balls through the channels (usually high above the channels).

It always seems a really big pitch at Surrey Street with loads of match balls being hoofed out the ground every other minute, I'm sure one hit an old lady on the back of the head in the nearby Tesco Supermarket. The clubhouse looks nice and the Tea Hut is one of the best in non league circles... the pies are excellent. Great views (when its sunny in September).

I've put something on 'Wheres The Tea Hut' more or less duplicating the above comments, I'm not doing long reports anymore, I'm also cutting down on photographs if its a ground I've been to before (as is happening more and more). Have a look if you want but don't expect anything special:

Relax, chill, take it easy. A cursory click onto your site has never brought with it an expectation of special. Nor has it mediocre really. I wouldn't go worrying about people's expectation levels too much!

Well I for one quite look forward to reading WTTH every Monday / Tuesday and if I am honest I quite missed the longer variation of his report on the trip to Glossop this weekend.

I can understand that if it is a ground he has been to before then its pretty much repeating what he has said in his first visit. However it would be good to read what his thoughts are on what it was like since his last visit. Have facilities improved or declined, is the pitch in a better state, what was the football like compared to the last time he was there etc.

Shacker will no doubt get through the vast majority of NWCFL grounds this season, and I think that opinions such as his and other groundhoppers are vital to us clubs as it gives us a fresh viewpoint on things instead of looking at them the same all the time. It also gives us little ideas of what other clubs are doing around the league which can only improve our own facilities if we implement them also.

As for the reason that the forum is quieter than an empty library, I dont know. Looking at the NCEL forum it is a hive of activity yet the NWCL one isnt. I did used to like the predictor though each weekend!

As Shacker knows, I too look forward to WTTH's updates.
I guess faceybook has replaced most forums these days. The New Mills lot made a great contribution to the forum before they left us for higher things, and we've lost the odd Ramsbottom forumite due to the same reason.

I take on board what Shacker said about this site and nobody can argue that it's much quieter than it should be. I know quite a lot of NWCFL supporters who take a look from time to time, but never think to make a contribution. I'm not sure what the answer is.

At Glossop, we were a bit disappointed about his report on the Vase game, as the only thing he seemed happy about..... was the pies. ( again ) We tend to agree with what Fallon said, particularly as it's three years since his last visit. Since then, there is a superb new clubhouse, top drawer changing rooms, various other improvements and a pitch like a bowling green that he described as 'nicely kept.'

Granted the football wasn't top drawer, but against a team that beat Barnoldswick in the F.A. Cup recently.... I'm afraid it was more about making the next round !
