A good workout yesterday against Drolyesden's 1st team. Considering there are 4 divisions between the teams, there was nothing between them on the pitch.

This was what I would call a "proper pre-season friendly" both teams committed and physical, and overall the draw was a fair result.

The league starts next Saturday, no more pre-season games for us. Let's just hope we're ready when Saturday comes.

4 divisions between the teams?

Even if that was the case surely a team with your budget, exotic foreigners, full-time professionals and a European Cup-winning manager should still be beating "proper" teams like this. ;-)

Ps don't you have your own forum for these reports?

I've got to be honest I'm sick to the back teeth of Stockport this and Stockport that. They are clearly favourites for the league this season and will no doubt win it at a canter, but let's be right about this situation.............. Our lass would win the league with the budget they have available to them. I wonder what will happen if come Xmas things aren't going as smoothly as expected ..... There are a lot of teams in the Division looking to trip the 'dream team' up so it should be very very interesting!!!!!!

Again as we posted earlier lets not let a few truths get in the way of a good story, the club has no actual fulltime players, we have players who try and make as many sessions as they can when sessions are on but most work or are at College or Uni. Budget your kidding we would be lucky to get 75 people to our games. We do however work very hard to make the club a better club than it was last year and not suffer the mistakes of the past in relation to getting the back office right. As far as foreign players go I am sure that the hard work we put into this area will hopefully allow some to move on to bigger things. Again lets not let the truth get in the way of a good story.

I agree about the truth and good story bit hence my mention of the 4 divisions...
As for the full-time bit - sorry about that but it's your chairman mentioning it over on your website that has obviously confused me:

www.pitchero.com/clubs/stockportfc2012/ ... 28859.html

As for crowds and budgets - good to hear you are being sensible on that matter.

I dont know who these Stockport Sports fans/commitee members are trying kid. If you have training sessions every day, sometimes double sessions, then you are full time. And its not like the club are trying to hide it, the manager puts it in his reports on the website.

As is mentioned above, they will get around 70 for home games, yet they can afford to rent a fancy stadium, pay a manager full time wages and a company car, hold training sessions every day and attract French players who should be playing 4 or 5 leagues higher? Something doesnt stack up there.

Let me tell you Stockport fans, we have all seen this before when a club lives ridiculously beyond its means, yes you will win the league this season providing whatever backers you have dont get fed up by then, but as soon as they do there is only one way your club is going.

But as you say, its a good story.
