Just goes to show what I know. I was fully expecting Woodley to be playing in our first division next season. It seems like a lucky dip to me ! See below, taken from our website -

Woodley Sports have been relegated from the Evo-Stik League First Division North and will play in the NWCFL Premier Division in season 2012-13. They will take the place of Ramsbottom United, who are promoted to the Evo-Stik League First Division North.

It was my understanding that a one step relegation was the punishment for failing a ground grading as in this case. Thus Woodley would be relegated from the EvoStick Division One North to the NWCL Prem (similar to Alsager Town a few seasons ago).

Will make for another interesting season, with Woodley reportedly having a full-time status for their players and Peter Withe in charge......

A full-time club in this league would ordinarily be expected to breeze through, but given Woodley only averaged around 85 fans last season, it will be interesting to see how they manage it.

Certainly, I would expect the league to be stronger all-round next season. Wigan Robin Park and Norton will more than hold their own and Congleton are having something of a major push this time around with a considerable budget being chucked at it.

Always assuming that the ground grading is appropriate to the particular League involved I would imagine.

From this, we could imagine that the Woodley Sports ground does not meet Grade D - so they cannot play in Evo-Stik 1 - but does meet Grade F which is appropriate for the NWCFL Premier Division. Having said that, I could be completely wrong with the respective ground grading requirements.

Regarding Widnes/ Widnes Town all will be revealed at the League AGM in the middle of June presumably.

When you say all will be revealed at the AGM regarding Widnes FC, if the teams have been confirmed for the new season on the league website, or you saying there is still a possibility that Widnes FC could be a new team in the NWCFL next season.

They've applied, and club representatives will vote in June on whether or not to accept them.

I know what my advice would be if the clubs were to ask for it!

Gents

I find myself fascinated with The Woodley situation and how they will go about immediate promotion back to the Evo Stick league, not least because they are local rivals and will be our 'derby' fixture for next season.

We all know about Peter Withe coming as manager, on 30K p.a. and a car thrown in as well. Apart from that, it was widely reported that had they remained at step 4, they were going full time professional, on a weekly players wage bill of around £4,500. On the face of it, this seems incredible for a club who were allegedly demoted for ground grading issues that they failed to address, when one would have thought they would have fixed the problem immediately, with that kind of financial 'clout' behind them. The word is that the grading issue was a smokescreen, the real reason being that they were unable to reach agreement on the lease with the owners, in time for the Evo Stick deadline, which could have potentially left them homeless. I understand that they have always enjoyed the Lambeth Grove facilities rent free and this was due to change radically.

So how will they approach next season? Surely they can't play full time players at step 5 on that kind of a wage bill? Have they now reached agrrement on the ground, if indeed that was definitely the issue?

Like the rest of us, I enjoyed the open league we played in last season, with all it's twists and turns, which went right to the wire and I'm sure we would all want to see that again next season. Having said that, if Woodley were able to invest a portion of that reported Evo Stick wage bill at our league next season, would we be back to one team dominating and a procession of teams trailing way behind again?

Judging by the scale of their operation, which they sent me when I applied to be on their media team, it very much looks like they're going full time professional. Training daily, mornings and afternoons on some days!

if some idiot wants to throw money at it good luck to them,
as always its money down the drain,

as for flixton sad to say i hear they are going to the
lancashire and cheshire league, thats a big drop and for a
club that used to pay good money to players in the past,
i suspect a lot of clubs are re-thinking their outgoings at
the moment, gates are down, and good sponsorship hard to find
as can be seen by the leagues own lack of sponsors,

but all should be revealed next week.

Will also be interesting to see what happens to Stone Dominoes now their manager has gone to Kidsgrove Athletic - its rumoured that some of the committee may be going as well, which could possibly mean the club will fold as a senior side.

I believe Woodley Sports have also been told by The FA that they can change their name to Stockport Sports FC.

Here are some facts to stop the guessing for woodley.

Name is now officially Stockport Sports FC feel free to see our website which is about to go live www.stockportsportsfc.com more upgrades etc will come.

Our season launch with Peter on the 20th July is open to you all if you would like to attend just see the website soon for a ticket.

The club has a signed a long term agreement to remain at current ground. You will appreciate the facility when you come. apologies for 3 or 4g not being everyone's cup of tea but that's what we have to deal with we would love a grass pitch but it's not to be.

The club does not pay that sort of wage bill 4500 as mooted here who has that amount of money? let us know lol.

The club offers full time training for players who may be able to train extra sessions but we are not a full time club. it doesn't pay full time wages. As usual let's not let the truth get in the way of a good story.

Stockport sports fc will have one of the lowest budgets of the NWCL.

Peter withe is employed full time and does have a car his wages are not for discussion on a forum.

The club has taken a total reconstruction from the back to the front.

The slow task now begins to rebuild the club piece by piece over the next few years. Their are no ambitions at Stockport sports now than to be good off the pitch. The football we will enjoy in the meantime.

We look forward to meeting you all over the course of the year and any rumours you he we are happy to answer cause most of it is from people who know very little about the club.

Cheers lads and can't wait to get to all the grounds.
