Today was nothing more then embarrassing to be fair, a lot worse performance then Saturday. Again Defence was very poor with Picton maybe the only player at the back that put a shift in and South up front was not getting the service that he needs. Don't think Adam Nicklin in Ferriby's goal was tested until the last 10 mins. Yates was particular poor and Barrwick who come on at Half-time is not a footballer in this world. All he was bothered about was picking a fight with North Ferriby's Danny Clarke, then were he wasn't picking a fight he was just lunging in without a any care and making dirty tackles. I'll not be surprised if he gets a few red cards this season. Also didn't think Woodhead in goal was great today, with his mistake topping his bad game giving the 4th goal away.
Things need to change fast, maybe a change of formation because the system being played at the moment isn't working at all. If it's played again on Saturday against Ashton United, (who are top of the table) then we're going to have a 5th defeat I'm afraid.
Yeah, Barwick really picked on the wrong player in Clarke. I believe he does a bit of boxing !.
I would rather see us play with 2 banks of 4 in a 4-4-2 system as iv'e said before. The players we have at our disposal do not have the know how or talent to play this system in this league. Again we have our biggest centre back playing on the right hand side of a back 3, with all due respect to Hellewell, he like Johnson on Saturday is not the fastest. He kept getting dragged towards the touch line, so was exposed for pace, and to top it off we lose his height from crosses in the box. If this system is to persist just play him in the centre of the 3 where we just want him to read, be the spare man and head balls away ?. I really don't get this system at all, and neither do the players by the looks of it, we were ragged to say the least.
We are trying to be too ambitious, too early with this style, when we don't have the personnel.
It was obvious that once the first goal went in, it was going to be a landslide. Agree about Picton, It shows that at the moment he is the only one who is up to this level of football at the back. I think the manager will be asking himself of who really is up to it by now and who isn't.
Again, I know the manager is up against it, some of the players are letting him down with these performances. Bloor is a good player, we just need the right man at the side of him, because at the moment he's having to run that midfield on his own. Some of the players at the back are not aggressive enough and are a real pushover. Take a leaf out of the skippers book and toughen up guys, it's not pre-season now.
On a positive note, Picton played well again, Danny had a better game upfront, especially first half. But he needs a partner. We know Allott is a big loss, but where's the striking options on the bench. Wood again was missing so where's plan B ?. Indy played ok when shoved into the middle.
Must try harder........It's going to be a long long season, But Never mind, it's only football eh
