no retford train times, but directions to the football ground, which im sure blade knows well with that long walk down the dark lane.

Public Transport:
Station: Retford 1¾m. Out of station and cross into Victoria Road, right into Albert Road, straight on at crossroads into Arlington Way, right into Grove Street which becomes Grove Lane and heads out of town, over railway lines and then after a further half a mile left at a crossroads, and ground is on left just before junction with Leverton Road. There is no bus service to the ground.

Personally I would not turn right into Grove Street, I would take the right after it into Spital Hill, this becomes Leverton Road and goes straight to the ground. It also gives you the option of stopping at Papas fish and chip shop on the way.

Out of interest. Where's everyones favourite Fish n Chip Shop .......Any recommendations, Not any 5 star michelins though !...I can't afford those, i'm from South Elmsall :D

If Harrogate win the replay we always used to stop off in Wetherby to go to the Wetherby Whaler, excellent fish n chips!! It is a few years since we have been there now though so I have no idea if it is still going and to the same standard but if it is then it is certainly worth a visit.

I understand that Wetherby Whaler has taken over the original Harry Ramsden shop

went to the one 200 yards (I dont do metric) past the ground at Matlock the other week, decidedly average I have to say.

I do like the one a couple of doors away from the Marine Ground, think its a Chinese too but maybe wrong. They were cracking.

Whitby is oviously tops, I avoid the Magpie and go over the bridge and bear right, its opposite the carpark. Excellent but pricey.

How is it I know a lot more about chips than football???

This Forum has become the Open University of life, It's so much better than talking about football all the time..

Weather's Not Very good is it, Funnily enough i once bumped into a weatherman at Leeds Train Station...John Ketley i think they called him, and when i say bumped into him, i nearly knocked him onto the track, It wasn't deliberate. I think i'd just had too many sherberts at that pub on the station

i like the chippy at the top of elmsall hill, the old hole in the wall took some beating just in kirkby though some years ago.
once had some really rank bad chips in matlock, needless to say, never been to that one again.

john kettley?
he once had a song made about him that got in the charts, with a strange title.
"john kettley is a weatherman"

They did Stan - an all time classic of all time, by A Tribe Of Toffs.

John Kettley was born in Halifax by the way - I think you'd need to get the train from Elmsall or Moorthorpe, & change at Leeds to get to Halifax these days, unless you bank with them - if that's the case just walk to your nearest branch

Surprisingly for someone born in Halifax John Kettley is a Burnley supporter
