You'll find me in Retford's Morrisons every Saturday morning at 8am with Mrs Finchley. My reward is I get treated to breakfast by Mrs Finchley in a proper "greasy spoon" cafe in the market square after finishing at the supermarket. :D

Once a month I give the servants a day off & the current 'life partner' & I do the big shop - mainly calling at farmers markets or artisan/organic food outlets. We reward ourselves with a light tapas brunch & a small glass of muscatel. Then we usually cycle home & take to the loom, weaving king size blankets made from our own body hair.

We are of the people

PS - I'm loving this, let's give the gravy thread a run for its money

I've still got a 'crash pad' in Hooton Pagnell - does that class me as a local?

MM, unfortunately we only have the farmers market once a month in Retford (3rd Saturday of the month), however, there are some stalls that are certainly worth a visit.

Occasionally I do venture a little further afield to Newark to give Mrs FT a treat and let her go to Waitrose.

I do for the Sheffield to Lincoln line calling at Retford, however, if it is the East Coast Mainline timetable you are after calling at Retford I'm afraid I only know the times from Newark North Gate. Of course there is the Hull trains service which also calls at Retford on the East Coast Mainline, but as this service does not stop at Newark I would have no idea of the time of their trains.

no retford train times, but directions to the football ground, which im sure blade knows well with that long walk down the dark lane.

Public Transport:
Station: Retford 1¾m. Out of station and cross into Victoria Road, right into Albert Road, straight on at crossroads into Arlington Way, right into Grove Street which becomes Grove Lane and heads out of town, over railway lines and then after a further half a mile left at a crossroads, and ground is on left just before junction with Leverton Road. There is no bus service to the ground.

Personally I would not turn right into Grove Street, I would take the right after it into Spital Hill, this becomes Leverton Road and goes straight to the ground. It also gives you the option of stopping at Papas fish and chip shop on the way.
