Is there any news on players coming to the team for next season? I would really like to see Mathew Stirland playing for the Blues. I just don't want us to miss out on getting some good players because we waited so long in naming a manager.

I wouldn't be too surprised to see a few of the better players for Goole sign up for Karl Rose. Quite a few
players being released by Football League clubs in the region, might be a few worth taking a look at in pre-
season. Some clubs have already signed players for next season. I've no doubt that the new manager is
already trying to get in a good squad of players.

the only players that are signed up at this time of year are the ones that are put on contract,i cannot see us putting more than about 4 on contract and we already have simmo on one.

I have a funny feeling not all of last years players will go. After having a talk with the new manager some may stay and give it another go to try and prove they can play under a new manage with diffrent ways of doing things. But if Rinky gets another job some may follow him.

Wouldn't be surprised at all, Frickley1. Rare all the team leaving, but not uncommon for certain players
following managers they like and trust.

i reckon we might have 8 to 10 of the squad that finished last season, but as we know money talks,it depends if someone comes in dangling the carrott in front of them,i hope the majority do decide to give it a go under the new boss as there was some good individual players,we just didnt play as a team, and did not play to some players strengths.

Talking about new players, does anyone think that we have had some really good players that have not been able to fully ply their talents due to the pitch, I mention just one Leon Henry, what a good player he is...... I can't watch watch many games, distance, expense have to be taken into account, I rely on the match reports and more importantly on the forum to know what's going on.
What's difficult to understand is why all the players that Peter Rinkavage brought in couldn't keep us out of the mire.
Is it money?
Is it that they aren't good enough, but they are mates of the manager?
Is it that they are too good for this level and come in for a game or two?
You chaps are there all the time, what do you think?

Personally, from what little I saw last season, I thought the pitch was awful and difficult to play football on.
The bounce of the ball was unpredictable at times. The lack of training time, from two evenings to one was
a factor and showed, the fitness levels toward the end of the season looked poor to me toward the end of games.
One or two players seemed to be carrying a tad too much weight imo. All added up to a poor season league wise.
Some good footballers but not a team to fear, probably more work on team shape when defending/attacking with
and without the ball would have helped.

Visiting teams didn't find the pitch too bad as we lost 10 and drew 4 at home. Then again, the team didn't do too well on good pitches eg Hillsborough. The results were poor due in many cases to tactics or lack of them.

Probably would have been a better performance if the players were used to playing on good surfaces. Unfortunatly
there aren't many good ones at Evo-Stick Premier League level. And yes, I believe the tactics didn't always suit the
players or didn't hinder the opposition often enough.
No doubt the majority of teams that beat the Blues at home were on better wages and have more support and investment.
Better players too and better tactics.
Leaving the pitch as it was not an option imo.

its the same pitch for both teams, you would think that would give us a slight advantage, but doesnt appear so,tactics were woeful at times last season and some players playing out of position, dont think we made the best of what we had,but we can only look to the future, hope we get a flair player or 2 in that can excite the crowd like leon henry, obviously rinky didnt like flair or width.

From what I watched, Rink's wide men turned back more often than going forward. More pace was needed in
those positions and there a need to be more positive attacking from wide areas. Then again, the wide players were
not brilliant at helping the fullbacks to defend. I thought they were a major weakness in the team last season.

I'm a little surprised by the last two postings as Rinky certainly introduced width and flair to the Tigers side. It was Rinky who signed Jamie Jackson for us and he is certainly someone who has pace and flair. Another flair player he signed was Chris Bettney who also gave us width down the right and this was augmented with width down the left with another of Rinky's signings, Ryan Mallon. In my opinion one of Ryan's great strengths at the Tigers was he was very good at tracking back helping the fullback out. A lot of this work would go unseen by many. However, on the few occasions I did see Ryan play for you this season I thought "his legs had gone", he did not look as quick as he used to be to me.

FT he let leon henry(a flair player that excited the crowd) and mark whitehouse(the best crosser of a ball at the club) both go and used ryan mallon on the left, whose first move was always to either pass inside or pass back,he did lack the pace of the other two,and mark whitehouse was not the quickest, very seldom used the flanks.the season before he let danny clarke slip away(who was a fans favourite)width and flair was definetely missing during rinkys reign, hence the reason why we probably had the pitch narrowed.
