First game of season Witton programme notes said they had eyes on promotion against a Frickley team favourite for relegation. We were up against it first half against a strong wind. Second half could have scored 4 or 5 but for Witton keeper. 3pts all that mattered today. Impressed with Knox.

Knox looks a real leader of the front line. Knox and Mozza will cause most defences a real headache. Billy must try to extend his loan to the end of the season or sign him up full time if possible. Good performanceand a good result.

Here's an extract from the Wiiton forum. Seems like the bloke who wrote it is some kind of reporter....

[i]"However, on 69 mins, Brian Pritchard failed to get good contact on a back header, as the wind took it away from him. Peter Knox charged through, and although Speare dived out and got 2 hands to the ball, Knox kicked it out of his hands into the net."[i]

What complete rubbish. Firstly fat lad didn't head it, he tried to stick a leg out to tap it back to the keeper. Keeper didn't even get a hand on it. It was noticeable the keeper never complained to the ref. Pritchard - who normally has a good game, got rattled after he was harshly booked and went to pieces.

This reporter also missed Groomey flick on and said Mozzers finish was a "tap in".

With accuracy like that a job on the Sunday Sport beckons.

Their forum is also full of the usual ill informed arrogance. Makes it all the sweeter to take 3 points

seems nobody is talking about the referee.

Must have been good.

Or is it because we won 2-0?

Thought referee had a decent game - fair to both sides and kept his cards in his pocket until late on. Right result overall - some excellent goalkeeping by both keepers kept score down.
