Just for a bit of fun as everybody seams dead out there and there is no game untill Sat. I ask a question. Who is the greatest ever player Frickley have ever had up the lane?
Who is the greatest ever manager that Frickley have ever had?
My vote would be for a start. Player Mike Waddy. Manager Billy Heath who else could i say?
Who do you lot think before I/WE die of boredom?

Graham Reed could play anywhere on the park and gave 200% - (still a god in Northampton), Geoff Sleight - took us into the Alliance Prem

Anyone who calls Mick Wadsworth "Mike Waddy" should not be allowed to vote in my opinion.

If the Blues ever had Keith, Reedy & Russ at the back and Keith & Reedy they would have won any league at a canter without conceding a goal.

Russ' transformation was even more remarkable as he could hardly win an argument when he first started playing for us in midfield

the record books say sean marshall and whitely as manager and player. however in recent times Marrow despite leaving sourly twice brought us 2nd place in the league, equally Billy could be on the cusp of something and had the league not had a stupid influx of money I think he could have been on the way to matching it. saying that the worse transition from hero as a player to zero as a manager is Hancock!!! Marshall is the legend.

Reed and Marshall do it for me. Barry Gill not far behind along with
Pete Howey and Paul Wilson with Russ Wilcox and Mick Wadsworth
in contention along with Paul Shirtliffe and Mally Wright.
I'm not a big fan of Brian Fiddler, liked Geoff Sleight and still believe
Mick Wadsworth should have been made manager at Westfield Lane
after his spell as a temporary manager - we got that one wrong big
time. Gary Marrow did some good things for the club and is a passionate
manager, an easy man to dislike maybe.

Pitdust its good to have you back where have you been mate? Not at Ossett i hope. Good to read your comments, its good to have a lively fourm with every bodys views i agree 100% Mr Marrow did leave us in a mess twice but as you say he took us to 2ND place, i also agree maybe Billys days are still to come. Thats twice i have agreed with you Pitdust soon be mates, the times are a changing in fact i have just read your posting again and i agree with every thing you say it must be the season of good will.Nobody put Billy Whitehurst forward yet remember he was a player and the manager. By the way Mini Maureenio sorry about the Waddy spelling. Can i be forgiven and still have a vote? I only went to Westfield lane school but i try my best.

Going further back to 1960/61 we had a good footballer Alf Ringstead (Irish International) from Sheffield United.and as manager at the time Ray Harrison. We finished 3rd in the Cheshire League.
Good servants to the club as players, Tommy Meehan, Keith Whitley. Another manager who played and managed Cyril Wooliscroft, took us to a cup replay with Rotherham United.

Not a bad list of 22 players Blade. Another name thats come up and i agree he was a great servant (goal keeper)Tommy Meehan. I remember going to Wembly to watch the 1980 fa trophy cup final and as i sat down who came and sat behind me, Tommy, by then he had been in and out of the team as he was getting a bit old then and i remember asking him if he would be at Frickley next season he said he dident know as he may be hanging his boots up. Who was in goal at the first game of the next season yes Tommy and he played a lot of that seasons games. As was said a great servant to the club. I think Mossley where in that cup final and if i can remember they lost 2-1 but with the grey matter not as good these days i could be wrong PS. Mini Maureenio only 99 to go.
