I couldn't help noticing that the fixture list for the friendlies
on show in the ground state that the Blues will be playing
Retford Town on Saturday( I don't think so! ) when we are
actually playing Retford United. If I was a Badger's fan I
would be very unimpressed by the oversight. Like calling
Athletic - Colliery.

I think Frickley either the old Colliery or the now Athletic is simply a change of name of ONE football club. I believe Retford Town became defunct before it became fashionable. Retford United are a new club, and as I understand the situation, were formed some years after the Retford Town FC ended.

Even more reason to get the name right surely?

I actually watched United play at Hallam recently -
a 2-0 defeat, a lot closer than the result suggests.
Should give the Blues some difficulties on Saturday.

If you have a copy of the programme from the Donny game you'll see the error had already been spotted and the name changed. The signs that are up were printed weeks ago.

Still an error, if it was printed weeks ago. I did
see that it was United in the programme.

im sure it was an oversight bladey.
i remember going to wakefield fc at belle vue two years ago only to be greeted by a big sign saying next home game vs FRICKLEY TOWN !

Im sure Prescot have called us Frickley United before too, their probably used to calling us quite literally "everything under the sun"

at the end of the day in this era of name changing genesis and all that tripe we stick to what we are, if someone call us colliery i dont have a problem with that.

we are formidable-blue, white, and most definately dynamite.... ive also heard John Hardcastle has renamed himself John Vandanel to re-invent himself as south elmsalls number one dutch gigalo.

Made many errors myself over the years and many more important
than calling United Town. Only human.
More than happy with the performance against Donny, great tempo
throughout the game and Rovers could not have complained if the
Blues had scored one or two more.
I prefare to praise and never have a go at Frickley's players indivually on this forum
and believe those that run the club generally do a great job, why it was a surprise
to spot the mistake, not spotting it at an earlier game one of mine maybe.
Hope the tempo is as high against Retford.

Good. The stronger the side the better. Should be a good
game. It was a bit men against boys against Donny and
Goole didn't play their strongest side against us either.

Crikey!! ORDSALLFAN is clearly lost for words!!

Maybe the gap is bigger than we all thought. If that was the majority of the side that won the Uni Div 1 Sth by a country mile we have nothing to worry about 'cos the standard is crap - certainly in the southern section.

I now understand what most opposing fans say about us - kickers, cloggers, moaners etc... (well, maybe not that last bit!!) Retford were all of that and more. I can only think that Duffield had his team well and truly 'up for' yesterdays match. Can't imagine why??

Anyhow, even game until the subs took to he pitch - just for the chap lost for words we had 9 i think... and a good workout all things said.

Roll on next weekend. Still have a couple or 3, maybe more, good players that weren't around yesterday (Jacko, Whitey, Lindley??) for one reason or another to add to the mix. A nice headache for Billy. We have 16-18 really solid, and experienced UniBond players. Lets hope they deliver and we get a good start.

See no reason why we shouldn't. Up the Blues'!

.

You speak volumes about your own Teams standards there if you perceive The Badgers and Unibond Div 1 South to be crap, especially after some lowly Div 1 South Team beat Frickley 0-2!
And as for the number of subs being blamed for your Teams lacking, it's becoming a trait amongst the Prem sides RUFC have beaten recently, to make such excuses, including Worksop although Ilson were more magnanimous in defeat.
RUFC can only strive to beat what is put in front of them.
And let's not also forget the 5-1 demolition of last seasons Prem winners, Fleetwood, and gaining the accolade of Team of the Round in the FA Trophy competition for their exploits.
Not bad for a Team with crap standards don't you agree?
So now where does that leave Frickleys standards? On the logic above, somewhere below crap methinks

I think most fans of Fickley would acknowledge the fine performances of Retford United over recent seasons. It seems a pity the townspeople don`t seem to give them the support they deserve. Even the fine win over Fleetwood was a derisery `gate`. I personally hope they can acheive the required ground grade then, maybe the Frickley Athletic V Retford United would become a regular in season fixture, rather than a pre season friendly. After all its only down the A1 a bit.
