We played Donny Rovers away in the FA Trophy, totally played them off the park, won 2-0, both goals from 'Super' Simon 'Not the one that managed the Spice Girls' Fuller.

Donny Rovers - whatever happened to them..........

That win at Donny was my birthday treat and as an ex season ticket holder at the old Belle Vue in the 1970's and early 1980's I am really glad to see them back in the Second Tier just like they were when Upton lad Charlie Williams played for them. 8)

well done to Donny, they have been the better team all season. Leeds will be favourites for the title next season but they will need half a dozen new players.

The Donny v Frickley match game was featured on Jeremy Clarkson's chat show, big Ron Atkinson was a guest and the joke was Clarkson was supposedly supporting his home town team Doncaster, even though he doesn't like football.

Simon Fuller joined Ossett Town the following season but i think he packed in playing, i know he was getting fed up with Gary Brook's management style.

Donny came to Ossett Town the following season for a FA Trophy game, the only people filming that day was the West Yorkshire Police video unit.

I remember at the home match before Donny away, there was a poster behind the bar which said " will the last one to leave South Elmsall next Saturday please turn out the lights"

Happy days.....

A very good day indeed, walked to Belle Vue via a few pubs.
Probably did for Ian Snodin as manager, Ian just about my
favourite ever Rovers' player. But good players don't always
make good gaffers.
As for Jeremy Clarkson, he is from Tickhill, a few miles up the
road from Donny. Classed as Donny? - just about I suspose.

Good to see Rovers get promotion and I look forward to seeing
them at Bramall Lane next season, hopefully on a better pitch
than in recent seasons - not easy to play passing football on it.

Jon Hood, Chris Hilton, and Dean Jones of last seasons squad played in that match. Simon Fuller turned Steve Nicholl in the centre circle and scored from about 40 yards to seal the game.

I was looking through the programme for this game last week. Duane Beckett was on the bench for them too.

I have the Clarkson programme on video including the goals, if Steve wants to upload it to the website I can let him have it if there is the interest

Of course there is interest, upload and be damned to paraphrase Citizen Kane, or was it the Generation Game?
