Some interesting friendlies, but none what you could call outstanding.
Brigg away would be okay, if only it was on a Saturday - a nice picturesque
town centre and a bit of a pain to get to by public transport, there is a
railway station there but very few trains stop there and none that I am
aware of from Doncaster or Sheffield. Probably miss that one.
Isn't about time we visited Wakefield's new ground? Couldn't be simpler
to get there by train or bus. Goole away would be nice too or a wander
up to Crosspool to the oldest football ground in the world - any other
suggestions?

Pre-season fixtures might be a more apt title for games
played at South Elmsall, it must be admitted that it ain't
the friendliest place in the non-league world.

Aww don't say that Blade, you will frighten off the opposition fans (who dont already know Frickley). I'm made of sterner stuff, I am looking forward to visiting when Cables play Frickley 8)

Got my wish about Goole. Cheap beer in The Jailhouse, across from
the Weatherspoons. Goole have some decent players too, I like the
look of the Vikings captain Brad Hill and the right winger McDaid had
a very impressive game the last time I visited the Pleasure Grounds.

The game should have a bit of an edge to it, I don't like friendlies
that are just too friendly. Awhile since we last played there, also
a pre-season do - can't remember much about it apart from that I
was there and not many Blues supporters were.

When you've been to places like Millwall's Lion's Den, Westfield Lane
is nothing to be worried about.

Ok, something paradoxical about a Frickley fan visiting the pleasure grounds

I remember visits to The Den.....that bloody underpass where the Millwall fans just lined up to throw bricks, bottles, anything to hand.....oh and the absence of the boys in blue
Frickley will be a walk in the park in comparison.......wont it??

Only ever saw the police in the away end at Millwall
and there was always plenty of missiles in the air. Only
got hit the once there by a coin.
Stoke's old ground another hostile one with pretty useless
police protection for away fans.

Always a pleasure to visit the Victoria Pleasure Grounds,
having being doing so since Goole Town days and not
only when Frickley play there. They usually have some
decent pre-season games, though they are not always
very well advertised.

I did venture to the Victoria Ground, but I was supporting Stoke, so that was fine.
this is going a tad "all our yesterdays" ish

Goole is between Doncaster and Hull, a port town.
The local accent more Hull than Donny. £5 Day-Return
from Doncaster on the train the last time I bought one.
The ground about half a mile from the railway station.

Can't think of any really hostile non-league grounds I've
been to. Sometimes a bit of trouble at Worksop's Sandy
Lane, but nothing when Frickley visit. Been to a few friendly
ones - Stamford, Winterton Rangers and Brigg quite welcoming.
Must be something in the water in Lincolnshire or maybe it's
because they don't play Frickley very often.
