Hello everyone,

Just thought I would bump this thread, rather than start a new thread.

The museum website still desperately needs your input, if you have stories or memories you want preserved this is the perfect chance. More than that if anyone has any old match worn items, medals, cups, match balls, or any other random memorabilia please get in touch and I will arrange to photograph them. For example, over the years the club have auctioned items off to fans amd I'm sure some of you wonderful lot have the odd signed programme or whatnot tucked away.

Any feedback is welcomed. Hopefully you are all happy with the site so far but there are many more things in the planning stages.

Thanks!

Hello folks,

I know people currently have more important things on their minds but I thought I would give a quick update. In the past six months the museum site has had over 6,000 hits, that is one hell of a figure. We have had enquiries from families of a fair few ex players and from local fans of other clubs looking for help with research. The response had frankly been staggering and I just wanted to thank you all for helping to make the site a success. Things are a bit quiet at the moment while I get my head around a virtual trophy cabinet idea and the hall of fame idea seems to have been a bit of a non starter, sadly, but I will rethink that in the summer. Once again, a great big thanks. We may not have a big budget but we do have real history and it is great that we can celebrate that as we look to the future.

Matt, don't give up on the Hall of Fame, its a brilliant idea. 2 weeks tomorrow & there's no more footy, lord knows what we'll do with ourselves - might be a great time to re-punt the idea.

PS Matt, I've been watching the Blues since the 70s. I'd gladly work with you to come up with some nominations for players for the HofF that have played for the Blues in my period of being a fan.

Cheers Mini. Any help is always appreciated, it's a whole load of work but it is worth it to pay respects to so many people who have graced the Lane over the years. It's always nice to get a message from the family of an ex player.

Think we will just wait for him to come back again... We can make him a moving exhibit. Or he could be a statue.

Keep up the good work Matt. As Mini says, keep reminding people on here during the summer and you might get a few more suggestions.

I hope you don't mind an outsider poking his nose in but one player I remember from yesteryear that I think would be worthy of consideration is Tommy Meehan. Obviously you guys will know him better than me but from the games I saw him play I always thought he was a decent 'keeper who gave good service to the Blues.

For me there are the likes of Billy Whitehurst, Gary Hatto and Keith Whiteley who also stick in the memory.

Tommy was a true stalwart, he had a good testimonial to thank him too so that is a great shout. The others are too. A lot of the concentration this season has been on the very early players but the more modern era will be covered in the coming seasons.

Thanks for the input.

Apparently Frickley & South Kirkby Council needed the room for an origami class, which has now folded.
