Birtley Town 4-3 North Shields Athletic.

Great game for the Neutral but what a long last 5 mins.
This result coupled with a couple of other results puts us right back in the mix. Game marred by 2 late red cards i especially leaving a sour taste in the mouth. No room for spitting directly at an opponent. Shameful behavior which i am sure North Shields will deal with.
The determination shown by this squad of players is unreal. Well done boys

Very tough game, their front 2 of Wyres and Jasper were a real handful. Credit to their skipper Wyres who came into our dressing room to apologise for the lad spitting at our player. Touch of class. best of luck for the rest of the season to North Shields, we go again Saturday v Killy Town in what I'm sure will be a very tough game. Could have gone either way last time out so we expect more of the same on Saturday

Ponteland Utd 5-0 Rutherford

Night to forget for us but full credit to Ponteland. Top blokes running the club, good sportsmanship on the pitch and afterwards. As for the football, in a very even 1st half Pont scored a scrappy goal to go in 1-0 at half time. However, 2nd half it was impossible to count the number of times we gave the ball away and if you give Ponteland space and they'll punish you. And they did.

Only one booking in the game and it goes to us. The reason? Wearing red tape. How it was affecting the game I'll never know. Our lads had rushed through from work to get to this game in order to kick off on time, yet one now has to pay a fine for his efforts. You could say it's the rules, but so is the fact goalkeepers must wear different colours yet the referee allowed the home keeper to wear a yellow top all throughout the game. We played in yellow by the way.....a yellow kit that has a red sponsor logo on it. But maybe tape on socks is more important than a keeper wearing the same colour top. These ridiculous bookings are crippling grassroots football as players are simply walking away. Respect is a two-way thing.

It was simply staggering. Our player was booked on 40 minutes so I presume the previous 39 he was ok with the tape. Then at half time 5 other players were told to remove tape without any cards being dished out. Players wear tape to keep shinpads in place as they're essential for Health & Safety. And as I stated, these lads had rushed from their jobs to get through to Ponteland on time.

And in all this time the home keeper still had a yellow top on that clashed with our kit...

Shocking that from a referee mind.

Killy 2-1 Newbiggin.

I am sure they will agree. The least said about the game, the better. Far from a classic but 3 points will go canny... Onto a very tough 1 at Birtley on Saturday.
