Team Valley Carpets Challenge Cup Semi Final

Birtley Town 1-2 Seaton Delaval

Cracking game edged by the visitors who imo were worthy winners. All the best in the Final to both Ponteland Utd and Seaton Delaval.

Killy Town 5-2 Northbank

Fully deserved and could have been more in truth.

Fair play to Carlisle. All the best to them.

Birtley 1-2 Delaval

Delaval were in charge for the first 25 mins or so and deserved their lead. We came back into it for a 15 minute spell and could have had an equaliser, missed a good chance and hit the bar.

2nd half Delaval again started the brighter and could have extended their lead earlier than they did. We made a few changes as they went 2-0 up and that spurred us into life, got a deserved goal back after 75 mins and could have nicked a second near the end after they were reduced to 10 men with a few good chances missed.

Over the 90 minutes we probably didn't deserve it, but could easily have been different if we took one of a few chances we had in the 2nd half. Both teams were missing a few players but largely had strong teams out. Ref's were very poor and inconsistent from start to finish, both sides looked baffled by a number of decisions throughout the game which frustrated both teams. On the balance of bad decisions they probably evened themselves out over the game but we were on the end of a few funny ones after they went down to 10 men and we were chasing an equaliser which just increased the frustration.

A big chance to put the performance right this weekend when we play Willington QS in the quarter final of the league cup
