Rutherford 3-0 Northbank Carlisle

Solid performance by us as we absorbed a lot of pressure, especially the 2nd half. The key points were we were already 2-0 up.

Northbank have certainly improved since earlier in the season and it was clear to see why they've been in good form as of late. Always good to see them and they'll give teams a few headaches

North Shields 0-3 Birtley Town

A decent performance that should have produced more goals with two disallowed for Birtley, one blatant the other a bit closer. Shields never gave up so credit to their lads. Hopefully they get themselves sorted out and can crack on for the remainder of the season.

NFA BOWL QF

Poneland 1 - 2 Killingworth town AET

The away side took the lead in the first half when lee Waugh slammed the ball home after great build up play down the right flank and were unlucky not to go in 2 up at half time with the away side restricting the home side to long range efforts.

HT 0-1

The second half was a fiery cup affair with both teams leaving it all out there and both could be found guilty of squandering missed chances. In truth it looked as if the away side would see the game out but a bizarre refereeing descision to award a corner in the 92nd minute to the home side resulted in a loose ball being fired into the roof of the net with pretty much the last kick of the game.

FT 1-1

30 mins of extra time were to be played and it was the away side who absorbed early pressure with the back 4 and Hamilton needing to be alert. 15 minutes passed with the scores still tied but the final 15 was all killingworth the the home custodian making an unbelievable point blank save from a header and again was at his best two minutes later to somehow keep an goal bount effort out with a fingertip save. The home side somehow made it to the end of the game with 11 men after Waugh left the ponteland player manager for dead on the turn, the away centre half felt it necessary to send an elbow straight into the jaw of the forward who was clear though at goal with the referee unbelievably only showing a yellow card much to the shock of both benches, the assistant referee and everyone else watching. The home keeper was finally beaten with 8 minutes to play after great link up play between Tate and Waugh ended with Tate with his back to goal back heeling the ball past the keeper to send the away bench and supporters into ecstasy. The away side marshalled the remaining 5 or so minutes of the game well and now look forward to the semi final draw.

FT AET - Ponteland united 1 - 2 Killingworth Town

TEAM: Hamilton, Dixon, Scott (c), Williams, Steinmetz, Bamborough, Hoyle, Percival, Tate, Walker, Waugh.
