Rutherford 0-1 Birtley Town

Bit difficult to do a report as it's always unfair to say this about players who put their effort in, but in my eyes it was a dreadful game.

Only one talking point of the first half - a Birtley defender committed a foul when he looked like the last man, then committed a similar foul soon after which could have spelled danger for him, but it didn't.

The goal came on 55 mins as a drilled pass took a wicked deflection and landed right on the head of the winger who couldn't believe his luck. This was Birtley's only effort on target but it was one more than we mustered! It was that type of game.

Can't fault any of the players as every so often games like this occur, but looks like Percy Mian nicked all the excitement for one week. Fingers crossed for some excitement next week.

I agree with your assessment Falcon it was an awful game, one goal was always going to win it which luckily by way of a deflection fell nicely for Azza. I was standing on the side of the pitch where the alleged last man incident happened and have seen them given. Personally i don't think it was a foul that warrented any more than the free kick that was given myself. What was a no brainer for the Referee for me was that any one of the 3 elbows by your CF should have been a straight red card. He seen the first not the second but the worst one which was the last was clearly seen by the referee as you could see by his actions when pulling the player over for his yellow all of these coming in the first half.

I also thought an elbow by one of our lads late on could have seen a red but the ref having let 3 go made it difficult to issue a red. One of the worst games for giving refs stick i have seen this season, He's done well to just issue 4 yellows tbh.
Its all about opinions i suppose.

No doubt Chris who does our reports will see it different again when he posts it.

Game of 2 halves. We were fantastic 1st half. They were very good 2nd. Fair result and well done to both sides.
