Cumberland Senior County Cup Rd. 2 - Silloth 3 - Harraby Utd. 1
An understrength Harraby side went out of the County Cup to 'Cumberland County Premier League side, Silloth . From having a full squad on Friday we finished up with 12 players turning up due to late 'Call offs' , perhaps a case of players expecting us to win so not wanting to be bothered as we were going in cars instead of a coach, most annoying :( .
The game itself was always going to be a tough one as they currently stand 2cnd in their league ,but we didn't play bad , more Silloth raised their game & really put the effort in. They took the lead in their first attack on 5mins. when we gave the ball away in their half & they broke quickly , 3 against 2 , & the unmarked Brough drove home from 15yds. We got back into it on 25 when 'Chucky' superbly controlled the ball & 'lobbed' their keeper from 35yds, but a slip by a defender on the 'Greasy' surface [ it was pouring down ] saw Trestianu left unmarked to hit home from 7yds with the last kick of the half.
Second half we created numerous chances , but their keeper, Carr, pulled off some great saves ,they defended well & even had the cheek to grab a 3rd through Hayhurst on 58 mins.
On the credit side ,I could even watch the game from the Rugby Club bar so I kept dry [ on the outside  ] , but to cap a bad day ,they didn't have 'Smiths' , still ,well done to Silloth & all the best for the rest of the Competition.

Cullercoats 2 Wallington 3

Great result for Wallington at one of the toughest away days in Northern Alliance Football.

Amazingly for the first time in living memory there was little to no wind to spoil the game which allowed both teams to get the ball down and place some football.

It proved to be a day full of rare occurrences as Chris Moffitt's 25 yard strike gave us an early lead. This was cancelled out though by the familiar sight of Hart (a spectacular left foot volley) and Lee scoring in quick succession for the hosts. Them two will certainly give defenders some torrid Saturday afternoons this year (and some referees a sore ear  )

We responded brilliantly and equalised soon after through an own goal before Gilmartin slotted home the winner, making up for his earlier penalty miss at 1-0.

Chances missed at both ends in the second half with goalkeepers on top which saw us maintain interest in at least one cup competition this year.

Great crack from Cullercoats after the game, very good club and wish them all the best this year.

Watching from the sidelines, it looked like both Moffit's and Hart's were complete mis-hits. How either of them had the audacity to celebrate was beyond me. They want to be careful - getting that excited at their age can't be good for them

Good set of lads at Cullercoats, their team spirit seems to have picked up a lot since that Davey lad (I can't remember his surname but you'll know who I mean - skinny lad, looks like a cross between AVB and Dean Gaffney) left them a couple of years ago.

Good luck for rest of the season!

Careful Mr Goodman, I'd hate to have to "out" you on here.

Glad to hear Cullercoats are still playing well strong and H is still banging them in - he tells me they're all 30 yard volleys?!?

I see you were watching from the sidelines again? Pea heart injury again was it? or now that the temps are getting into single figures are we unlikely to see you donning the green until March/April time?

Unfortunately the selection process for Saturdays team was based on a game of Head/Catch, normally carried out with a group of 5 year olds, prior to the warm up.

Trev....I mean White Goodman, failed to grasp this and couldn't get into the first 11.

The eliminator defined the 3 subs to come on, he missed out here as well. In fact our 4 year old mascot was ahead of him.

Next selection process relates to a 'Prime Numbers' quiz.......thats gonna be a struggle, someone tell Moff!

Fonz you need to get back playing Saturday football the lack of left foot stepovers has falling dramatically since you quit!!! Bedlington Ewok I think you are being very harsh with white goodman as I think he's a sophisticated young chap and will always be a legend in my eyes alongside Stevie Gibbard.

Mr Boxing!

Jolly good to hear from you, you've been quiet on here recently. You keeping ok?

I'm glad you're here to stick up for me, and to be mentioned in the same breath as The Mighty Gibbard is a true honour. Although to be honest, playing with him over the years has probably knocked 2 or 3 years off my career. I'm sure you feel the same.

I don't know when we play you, but you're welcome to join in with Ewok's silly pre-match head/catch game. I feel it's wasted on intelligent chaps like you and I though.

Nice to see the banter on here again with the Ewok/Boxing and the Fonz. Although im now down in the lower leagues still parading around like Windass/Heskey its always nice to see how you lads are getting on. Wallington in my veiw are a great bunch of lads and as for Cullercoats theyve always been strong although the last couple of years have been difficult but turning a corner now.

As for Goodman....hmm...2 to 3 years were knocked off you career when you lost ya pace(what pace you had haha).

and as for the Fonz all i can say is quality and looks go a long way with you fella.

all the best to you guys for the rest of the season

Cheers

Mighty(dangerous left foot)

Stobswood09 what can I say about you as your a legend and (roomy) in fact i will tell the now legendary tale about the time in Bristol airport a little while back just to inform the readers of your legend!!!!

Checkout girl..."hello sir did you pack your bag yourself? And have you had your bag on you at all times whilst you have been in the airport?

Stobswood09..."er aye sure have".

Checkout girl.."ok can you just take a look at the picture behind me and tell me if you have any sharp or dangerous objects on you that are not on he picture"?

Stobswood09..."aye me LEFT FOOT"!..........hahahahahahahahahahahahaha the look on her face will stay with me forever...was still laughing when I got off the plane at Newcastle!
