Benevolent Bowl

Seaton Delaval 3 Prudhoe Town (Wearside League) 2

Went 3-0 up through Jorge Bollado then two by Luke Newton

Half time 3-0

second conceded a scorcher to bring it back to 3-1 both teams had chances but in the 88th minute had a player sent off for stamping but to be fair their players said it wasnt a stamp but they scored the pen to make it 3-2.

Some very good players for Prudhoe Town no doubt will do well in the Wearside League

Ponteland 5 v 0 Walker Central

Absolutely battered from start to finish and it could have been worse.
Good luck to Ponteland who performed really well today.

SSOT just out of interest did you see the sending off, some Prudhoe lads said it was not a stamping as the ref saw it, I was too far away to make a judgement on it just our lad was furious and was adamant he didn't stamp on the lad. To be fair our right back who I thought was excellent just turned 16 and like Prudhoe we had a number unavailable and should be back next week and four back from injury in the next month to six weeks, we had two making a debut but quite happy overall because we had three excellent opportunities that should have been finished but they had a great effort off the post

Thanks for that SSOT to be fair the Prudhoe players said the same thing I as too far away but knew from our players reaction of basically pleading he didn't do it. The players know my feelings on stamping and dissent and they'd be out of the club and they know it, we've now in two seasons had two sendings off both for stamping which never occurred, one lad Celso got a £50 fine and three match ban which meant he lost his shirt as the lad came in did well for six games and even after the assessor said it wasn't a stamp and he had sent off not only the wrong player but the wrong player from the wrong team! As you may know there is no appeal even on red cards so the offence is carried through.

Thanks for you observations SSOT

HARRABY UNITED 2 GATESHEAD RUTHERFORD 0
Harraby finally won this game ,but fair play to a Rutherford team that is really starting from scratch, who made it hard for the home side & never let their heads drop. Harraby were always on top , but the visitors , mainly young lads with a couple of experienced 'veterans' , defended well & keeper ,Kieran Macmillan , made numerous good saves to keep it level at the break.
'Chucky' finally broke the deadlock with a pen. on 65 when 'Dougy' was tripped in the box ,then the same two combined to play their way through the defence for 'Chucky' to run clear ,round the keeper & roll home to clinch the 3 points. As always ,good banter in the bar after & all the best for the rest of the season to Rutherford, who I'm sure will turn things around :) .

Percy Main 1 Heddon 0

Not the greatest of games, with the winning goal coming in the 84th minute courtesy of James Leggett, due to a contentious free kick.

I wouldn't say the game was overshadowed, but it was one of those magical days pre match especially.

One of Percy Main's greatest players in it's near 100 year history is Ronnie Robinson who played for the club and county with distinction for 10 seasons from 1949 and for his 80th birthday he wanted to come to the match.

The fantastic reception, Happy Birthday and 3 cheers, that he was given by the team in the dressing room brought tears to his eyes, which was followed by a Guard of Honour for the old fella from both teams and officials - full credit to Heddon as well who more than played their part.

Percy captain Tony Browell then presented him with a home shirt with "Robinson 80" on the back.

He thanked us all and said afterwards that he would remember his afternoon for the rest of his days.

Fantastic day - sometimes it's the little things, that we don't see when we're so busy......

Top bloke, Ronnie.

I've only played for Percy Main for a few weeks but it's clear how much class they have and how much they cherish and protect their rich history.

Great club

It's says a lot about Percy Main when no one is surprised by the class shown :D

Percy Main as a club have long had a classy committee and set up. Now they have a playing staff and management team who demonstrate the same values.

Well done all round.
