A great night to be a proud Chester-Le-Street supporter ! :D

Blyth looked a big set of players, with names like Bulford in there they were going to be a handful, but the young CLS lads (& Maz  ) stood up to them in every department.

Especially in defence ......

Jack Wilson - a few trade mark cat like saves, getting in the thick of it at corners

Greaves & Walker were superb at the back - stood up to everything flung at them - Walker impressed again bringing the ball out of defence coolly a number of times.

Always a shame to see Whitey at left back, but needs must - really got stuck in and showed aggression in some of his challenges never seen before.

Steva - kept their lively number 11 mostly quiet, voice at the back now.

Maz in the middle keeping everyone right, ably assisted by Granty who was all over the pitch - as was Dan McGuire, a bit quiet in the first few games after a good pre-season - he never stopped working the line all night - no idea how he kept going.

Upfront - Moley back where we need him causing chaos - so many deft touches really stretched their back line.

Pleased for Dan Maddison - the new Hessy ?!?!? Bit of a worky ticket, lets the defenders know he's there and brave to get through the crowd for the goal.

Subs too played their part, as did the Management Team - Baz on the far side keeping everyone going through the last 15 minutes.

MOTM : Won't pick an individual - the whole lot of 'em deserve it !!!!!!!!

It's a funny old game. After Saturdays disappointment against a spirited but limited Bedlington side we rolled up our sleeves and gave as good as we got against a big strong skilful Blyth side who will be in the shake up at the end of the season. We had periods where we were under lots of pressure but I thought the defence and midfield coped very well and the four lads at the back put in a great shift against their front three of two pacy direct wingers and Andy Bulford who to be fair has hurt us before many times but didn't get a kick on Wednesday night. Jack again made a couple of good saves as he does and it is handy to have the best keeper in the ENL2 as last line. Going forward we always looked threatening with Dan McGuires pace, Moley holding the ball up well and as Hodko says young Danny making a nuisance of himself. Great delivery from Maz for the goal and a brave header from Danny then a great defensive performance. Everyone put in a shift worthy of MOM but I thought Joe Grant was excellent in winning his tackles just in front of the back four so he just shaded it for me. Lots of plusses and with a few players to come back hopefully soon things may be looking up after Saturdays disappointment. On to Crook Town who have started well on saturday
