Well where do I start?? :(

A fairly even first half with a lot of huffing and puffing from the lads but not a great deal of quality....fairly typical after a two week layoff I suppose. I thought the first goal was a speculative cross that caught us out at the back post and the second shortly after carried its fair share of luck too....unlike others there was no way the lad meant to flick the ball around the defender....I thought he tried to help it on and follow it up, but sliced it and as a result he found himself one on one.....not blaming bad luck but it just doesn't go for you when you are down at the bottom. We physically wilted afterwards, taking the wrong options or running into blind alleys and basically conceding possession.

If the first half was about bad luck then the second certainly wasn't....Whitley were much the better team in the second half and grew in confidence, retaining possession and playing some good football that could have yielded more than the two they got in the last ten minutes. I wouldn't say the lads gave up but there were certainly less options when we got on the ball. It seems that when we make mistakes we are punished for it too....but at this level that's the difference......must be hard when we cannot get the same lads there every game too, injuries and work commitments apart, it must be deflating......on a more positive note, it was nice to see Lee Mole back on the pitch....have to put this one behind us and move on to Newton Aycliffe easy or quick fix....just get back to doing the basics right, maintaining our shape and sticking together and taking responsibility rather than looking for scape goats.

I know its difficult to enjoy games when things aren't going well but we have to get back to playing without worrying, so a little team encouragement will go a long way.
