In truth, we were well beaten on Saturday and thankful that it wasn't another Consett....mainly thanks to Jack Wilson in goal, the only obvious contender for our MoM. A changed team with lads missing from last week, struggled against a team that were quicker and stronger on the day. Losing Lee Mole didn't help our cause, but to be honest we struggled against Penrith's power game from the start, looked vulnerable at set pieces, and whilst we had a couple of half chances, we were fortunate to get to halftime 0-0. Penrith put us under pressure at every opportunity and the quality of delivery from their set pieces was very good.

We were the biggest contributors to our own downfall, conceding possession needlessly and never really looking comfortable on the ball. We can never fault the lads for effort but on Saturday it was just a lack of application with a scoreline at 2-1 flattering us. But football is like that and in all truth we did more in the last 5 minutes than we had the previous 85 and could have even stolen a point. A testament to the lads' ability to keep going no matter how difficult things are on the pitch. Cannot fault the team spirit or attitude.

Important game on Tuesday now against West Auckland and hopefully the team will get back to basics and bounce back to winning ways.

Absolutely what IDL said, summed up perfectly. We never got to grips with the Penrith midfield who were excellent in winning the ball and feeding Penriths outstanding number 9 Coleman. Wasn't impressed by Penriths back line and I feel if we could have put them under more pressure like the last 5-10 minutes then we may have got something but on the whole a bit disappointing. Well done to Jack a great performance, some stunning saves MOM.
