Sunderland Town End on average are scoring just less than 14 goals per game & conceding less than a goal a game. Does anyone know if their ground would be suitable for the Wearside League? Because their football team obviously is!

Windy have a look at the bigger picture pal. No disrespect to the teams there playing but come on. If this is a feeder to the wearside league were in trouble.

Thompson Park is, well... a park.

They've got some very good footballers in that squad, the nearest indicator of their level I can think of is to compare them against Durham United, as they in turn drew with Coxhoe Athletic.
Town End Farm beat Durham United 5-0.

Obviously, this is no more than a tenuous measure, but that team would do well in the Wearside League I feel.

Three teams I have seen would do ok in the Wearside league, playing wise.
Town End.
Durham United
and perhaps Seaton.

Town End mid table to pushing top 6.
Durham Utd bottom 8.
Seaton bottom 3.

Just my opinion on the odd game Ive watched.

Re Sunderland Town End.

What tends to happen is that should they wish to progress they will look around the City of Sunderland to see what grounds of Wearside League standard are available.

They could play at Hylton Colliery Welfare as was ( Billy Hardy Complex ) on alternate Saturday's, likewise Silksworth Colliery Welfare or Ford Quarry...all are council owned and I would guess available to rent. There is also what was Herrington YMCA ground which is fully enclosed etc etc....and Leyburn Grove in Houghton le Spring.

Just my thoughts.

Sir rod. I dont suppose you know what happened to that other pitch further along from herrington ymca. Used to be enclosed and a cracking pitch. I rocked up there last season and found it overgrown and totally run down. What a waste.

Are you meaning Herrington Colliery Welfare ?.....on the road from Herrington Burn ( where the YMCA pitch is ) to the Board Inn pub......if that's the one I confess I didn't know it was in a bad state.

Do you mean the pitch at Herrington club just over the little bridge and down a short drive, used to turn right at a pub just over the bridge. I remember playing on there for Birtley Joes in the Washington league. was a lovely pitch and herrington Club had a very good side. Shame if that is the one you mean and it is out of action

Im not to familiar with the area but if you came off the a19 got to the board inn then turned left at that roundabout followed the road all the way going past the pitches on your left. You then come to a t junction its just off that junction. Theres a gym etc just off the car park. Im sure sunderland ladies or reserves used to play there. Couldnt believe my eyes.

That's Herrington Burn YMCA ground....it's still in use, it's not derelict.

By the way.....Sunderland Ladies have never played there....not in the 11 years I was involved.....they ( as I am not involved now ) played at the old Washington AFC ground at Spout Lane, and then the Hetton Centre. They moved to Mariners Park for 1 disastrous season ( attendance wise ) and are now back at the Hetton Centre.
