Believed that they would look for a suitable Northern League ground, hence why I said an application for promotion from them would not surprise me.

I presume this is because there ground is going to be totally upgraded to a community facility with a 4G surface.
I think it'll be up to Northern League standard.
Sunderland Council are developing 3 sites within the city for this I think the total spend is something like 16 million quid.
It was big news in the Sunderland Echo the other night and work is starting soon.

Ground-share no. Joint equal tenure yes. Speaking to the West lads last season they were saying the new facility would be NL standard when completed.

The only stumbling block would be if Washington don't agree to a joint tenancy. Which is exactly what Thornaby did to prevent Boro Rangers playing at Teesdale Park and qualifying for promotion to the Northern League this past season.

I thought that if the ground share was already in place lets say for a season then there is no problem with promotion. We have had teams promoted in the past when groundsharing is in place infact there was one last season in Blyth and Ashington. I thought this joint tenancy only arose because of teams desperate to put something in place to gain a promotion when their ground is deemed not up to scratch.

Sunderland west end are one of the partner clubs in the new Parklife hub plan between Sunderland City council and numerous agencies including the FA , Sport England and the Premier League where existing sports areas are re-developed into sports hubs with numerous 4G pitches and excellent facilities. The sites are at Community North fields and Ford quarry in Sunderland and the Northern Area Fields in Washington. Just one proviso is that I believe that the hub site at Ford Quarry will have one ground up to Wearside league standard with the ability to bring it up to Northern league standard by expansion but additional funding would be necessary

This is copied from a Q&A sheet available from the Sunderland City Council web site
https://www.sunderland.gov.uk/media/197 ... ril_18.pdf
Quote:
10) Will the hubs be able to accommodate Wearside and Northern League fixtures?
There is an expectation that some hub sites will be designed to incorporate provision for the
initial playing of step 7 football (Wearside League). The site layout will be flexible to allow
expansion should user’s progress onto Step 5 or 6 (Northern League). For this to happen
additional funding would need to be sourced.
