What a great game of football this was on Tuesday night, two teams giving it 100% and pretty much cancelling each other out across places on the pitch. On a nice evening a the pitch at Hebburn sports ground looking well considering it's had almost 20 games on it in 2 months both teams got the ball down and tried to play football.
Cleator with the more expereinced team were very vocal both on the pitch and from the dug out, shouting and appealing for everything in a bid to intimidate the officials (in some instances it did work) and the young Hornet side with the average age 20years old, but to the credit of the Hebburn lads they held their own and did very well.
Chances were a plenty at both ends of the pitch but some excellent defensive work and goalkeeping from both sides it was hard to see where or if the deadlock would be broken, however the 78th minute changed that. A long free-kick into the far end of the box by Peter Jones was nodded back across the front of goal by James Wilson for debutant striker Jamie Lawson to tap it in the net, wild celebrations followed from the young Hebburn side and the bench. The last 12 minutes of normal time plus 4 of added on time remained tight with more chances coming for both sides.
A great 1-0 victory for Hebburn who remain undefeated in 6 games (5 lge 1 cup), a start everyone and the club is proud off and the hope the good form can continue. No game Saturday for the team so next up Windscale at Home on Tuesday
