Cleator Moor Celtic's match last night against South Shields Reserves was abandoned after 90 minutes with Celtic winning 9-1. Will the result be allowed to stand, or will the match be replayed? I notice that the Wearside league website has not reflected the result in the league table, which implies it will have to be replayed.

Also Celtic's cup match last Saturday against Prudhoe had to be cancelled because Prudhoe could not raise a team (find that hard to believe personally). Will this also have to be replayed, or will Celtic get a bye to the next round?

If both of these have to be replayed it would seem harsh on Celtic. Like last season they'll end August with a backlog of matches already!

From Celtic... "As the game did not complete the full 90 minutes it will need to go to the league committee. Given the length of time it did go, the score and the agreement on all sides, I would be amazed if the result does not stand"

That makes sense to me.

Raining goals by the looks of it. Surely result stands.

Well done for common sense!

FA state that games can be cut short, but halves need to be of 'equal halves'. Outside of that, league committees must sit and consider all factors.

A rough guide...

losing 9-0 at half time, shall we call it a result? FA will say no- maybe replay, maybe both teams fined
losing 0-2 twenty mins to go, home floodlights fail- replay- fines may be applied re floodlights
winning 9-1 opposition player suffers severe injury delaying final whistle- goes to committee who will hopefully say result stands

Good news. Celtic at the top of the table (if only for one week)!

Anyone know what happens with the cup match - will that have to be replayed?

Prudhoe Town ejected from Alan Hood Charity Cup and fined. Cleator Moor Celtic host Redcar Athletic in next round. No fault on either party due to abandonment of Cleator Moor Celtic v South Shields Reserves and with 87 minutes played it was an easy decision to reach to let score stand as final result.
