Everyone at Redcar Athletic is deeply saddened after being informed that Wolviston F.C. Secretary Andy Anderson has passed away after a long illness. I would on behalf of Redcar Athletic like to pass our condolences onto his family, friends and all at Wolviston F.C.
Andy was a true proper gentleman, great friend of Redcar Athletic and no doubt many more teams of the Wearside League. He will be very much missed and will never be forgotten by those who met him.

Very sad news indeed .. I was informed yesterday of this sad news

Andy was a true gentleman in football who never had a harsh word for anyone

When i was manager of the reserve team at Wolviston , Andy was a big supporter of the young lads and was always interested in how they got on and would always take time to speak to the players..

He will be a big miss for the club and the league in general.

Sleep well Andy

Steve Todd

Really very sorry to hear this. Have got to know Andy over the years in my dealings with Ryhope and he was a true gentleman and a very fine man.
Would always ask how things were up here as he was a Sunderland man, although older than me we attended the same school.
He will be a big miss to all his colleagues at Wolviston and the wider football community in general, can I just pass on our condolences to Andy's family and all at Wolviston FC from all at Ryhope Colliery Welfare.

I heard the sad news before our friendly against Consett on Saturday. In the few years that I've been involved with the league, I realised Andy was one of the good guys and would always take the time out to speak to you. I would like to take this opportunity to send our condolences and thoughs to all of Andy's family and friends. From all at Silksworth, past and present.

Very sad to hear about Andy. True test of any man is the reaction you get after their team has been beaten. With Andy he was his same gracious self when we won at Wolviston as he was when they tubbed us. Found out that Andy was a Sunderland lad in his youth and that just endeared him to us even more. A real class act. Rest in peace mate!
