The 2017/18 season saw continued growth for Guisborough Town Juniors with 2 new teams starting, one each at Under 7 and Under 8 level bringing our total to 12 teams from Under 7s to Under . Over the course of the season the club hosted more of our Junior Open Days that saw the entire section attend some of our Northern League games, creating a fantastic atmosphere. These will continue in the 2018/19 season with the first scheduled for Saturday 8th September when we host Blyth Town.

The Under 7s were placed in a very difficult division at the start of the 17/18 season, their first as a team, but managed to stay together. Sadly they lost some players over the course of the season but have managed to build on their squad ahead of next season

U8 Red The GTFC Under 8 Reds began the 2017-18 season full of confidence having been runners-up in the previous season’s Challenge Cup. Their achievements had earned them a place in Division 2. By the end of October, they had won all five league games and won through two rounds of the League Cup, scoring 68 goals and conceding just 14. Finlay T had scored 33 of those goals and the young striker was to score in EVERY one of the 26 league and Cup games. Through the difficult winter months the unbeaten record was maintained, including an exciting quarter-final cup game against first division Hartlepool, 3-2 winners after extra time.
A slight blip against Boro Rangers City, a 3-3 draw, but a superb display against first division Whitby in the cup semi-final , 5-2 winners, saw them reach a Rockcliffe Cup Final for the second year running. Before that came the final four league games, four more wins and the superb record of Played 20, won 19 with one draw, goals scored 147, just 36 conceded. Finn scored his 100th goal in all games in the last league game and added another in the Cup Final but it was not enough as league champions Northallerton did the double with a 4-1 win.
Many thanks to T.V.C (Tees Valley Components) and McColls Retail Group for their generous sponsorship and to our expert coaches Richard Ward and Rob Slowther for their hard work. A new challenge next year, playing 7-a-side in Division One and they’ll be without their striker Finn T who has earned a place in the Middlesbrough FC Academy, but the squad have been training hard and are relishing the battles ahead.

U8 White Guisborough whites under 8s have enjoyed their first year as a team having formed at the start of the season. Having struggled at first they really came alive in the second half of the season, even going on a fantastic run of only losing 1 game in 16 matches in both the league and friendlies. They’ve also had the privilege to enjoy Guisborough town senior games and junior open days on several occasions over the course of the year. Bring on 18/19 season and all the fun Guisborough town family days!

U9 Despite a strong campaign the previous season, the 2017/18 campaign was very challenging for the U9s and sadly due to other commitments, their manager Ben Robinson left the team at the end of the season. Around Grassroots football, it is difficult to replace coaches especially ones as committed and hard working as Ben and this proved fatal to the team who sadly were forced to fold at the end of the season

U10 Red
It was a tough season with losing players and bringing in new squad players and getting them all to gel and to grow together as a team. Although results were not the best, the lads played their hearts out in every game and didn’t let their heads drop. Top goal scorers last season were Alfie S and William McB both with 6 goals each. They are all looking forward to the new season 18/19.

U10 White The Under 10 Whites continued their strong start to their development with Guisborough Town which resulted in them being given the division 4 Fair Play Award at the TJFA awards back in May.

U11 Red
The Under 11 Reds started their third season together as a group competing in division 1 of the TJFA, after coming fifth and then fourth in the previous two seasons. Despite losing Harry O to Leven and Harry F to Skelton, they strengthened with three great signings in the form of Connor L, Corey H and Joe B as they went to 9 a side for the 17-18 season. They made a great start in their first game finding themselves 3-0 up at half time against last seasons league winners Marton royals then going on to win 3-2 in a very competitive game. The final game of the season ended with a strong performance and an 11-2 victory. There were many good games sandwiched in between most notably against Marton, Cleveland juniors, Trimdon and Bishop Auckland. Over the season they played in six games where they bagged double figures .
Jimmy B, the reds lightning fast striker, bagged himself 62 goals in the season with Corey H netting on 16 occasions and Joe B grabbing himself 15 goals. Leven who only dropped five points all season won division one in a highly competitive division. Overall Guisborough Reds finished third in division one and have gone on this summer to win the TATA Cup and Junior Champions League amongst others. While retaining and re-signing all of their outfield players, which is testimony to the team spirit and friendship between all the players, hopes are high for another successful season

U11 White At the beginning of the season Jonathan's aim was to have a successful season and be promoted from Division 4 of the 8 Divisions
The first few games didn't go to plan with no keeper, but once Tom E returned the results started to change. This was Tom’s first season playing in the TJFA and what a season this young man has had, in the 16 games played he only conceded 16 goals and kept 4 clean sheets.

By November the team were 2nd in the division and as usual the Lads took part in the Remembrance Parade before playing their game as done in previous years, they all took part in the Remembrance Parade. The lads have done taken part in the Remembrance Parade for the last 5 years and love representing Guisborough Town Football Club.

Into December and the team and parents were the team that sold and raised the most for the GTFC Xmas Raffle selling over 800+ tickets. By the time the Christmas break came round the lads had played 12 games and were sitting top of the league.

Into the New Year the lads came back ready to go again and hit the ground running with more wins scoring 37 goals in the first 5 games back after Xmas and only conceding 4 goals. Riley G (24) and Keigan D (19), our two U10 players playing a year up, were the difference scoring 43 goals over the season between them.

The last game of the season and the lads needed a win away to Newton Aycliffe to finish 2nd in the div behind Leven and they dug deep after going behind mid-way through the first half but got a goal back just before half time and then got another in the second half finishing the season 2nd and promoted to the 3 Division for 18/19.

The lads enjoyed their presentations evening at the TJFA Awards. At our own presentation night awards there were plenty of awards as the lads worked hard over the course of the season. Sonny M, Captain, received Managers Player after a fantastic season as the engine in the middle of the pitch. The Parents were split deciding their award so Harry L, who has been a rock at the back this season, Sonny M and Riley G shared the award. The Players Player was also shared between Tom E and Keigan D both totally deserving of the awards.

Come the end of the season Charlie P has decided to take a break from playing league football but is still looking forward to training with the team he's been a part of for the last 5 years. The lads are looking forward to another season in Div 3 and will be aiming to finish in the top half of the division.

U12 Guisborough under 12’s had another fantastic season ,winning promotion as champions for the 2nd consecutive season. With only a small squad of 11 players they won 16 of our 20 league games scoring 79 goals in the process. They also had a fantastic run in the league cup narrowly losing to a last minute goal to eventual Division 1 champions Marton Whites in the quarter finals. What these lads have achieved in the last 2 years has been outstanding. They are are looking forward to continuing their progression as they move on to 11 a side next season

U14 Throughout the season for our division 1 Under 14s, they competed with the top teams in the league and found themselves in a 3 horse title race as they neared the end of the season. Marton and Boro Rangers were battling until the final games of the season and sadly Guisborough lost games against both sides in the final few weeks of the season which left them 1 point behind the 2 other teams, who’d finished level on points and forced a playoff. Guisborough dominated in the cup competitions and won both the League Cup and the County Cup over the course of the season. Their final game was a friendly against American side TV Hawks which was won by the young Priorymen. This was a fantastic game that was well fought by both teams. It was a pressure to welcome them to the club. Sadly many players left the team at the end of the year to join their close rivals and the team were forced to fold
