North Shields 1 Guisborough Town 0

Liversedge, Roddam, McWilliams, Carling, May, Liddle, Snaith, Helm, Earl, Bythway, Round
Subs: Wood, McPhillips, Smith, Bettson, Dixon

Guisborough Town were in third place and had only lost once when they travelled to North Shields who were in tenth spot. A win or draw by Town would edge the Priorymen into second spot as Morpeth Town were on Vase duty.

Guisborough Town had beaten Shields 2-1 on the opening day of the season with goals by Luke Bythway and Curtis Round with all the goals scored in the second half. True to form the interval score line today was 0-0 once more in a half watched by 342 people.

Top team Shildon were losing 2-0 at home to Consett and fourth placed Marske United led by a goal in the 1-0 interval score with Dunston UTS.

In the first game Luke Bythway scored in the third minute of the second half but today it was Dean Holmes who scored early on 53 minutes. The Robins should have put the game to bed with 11 minutes left when they delivered a triple threat as Gareth Bainbridge hit the bar, Ryan McGorrigan's header was cleared and Holmes fired wide.

The game ended with Sean McCafferty keeping a clean sheet and Guisborough Town losing 1-0 and dropping to fourth spot in the table due to Marske United who drew 1-1 and United climbed to second spot on goal difference.

1 Shildon P13 = 30pts
2 Marske P11 = 23pts
3 Morpeth P10 = 23pts
4 Guisborough P10 = 22pts
