West Auckland 2 Guisborough Town 0

Escritt, Poole, Bishop, Lee Bythway, Gell, Guy, Lewis Wood, Johnston, Stewart, Luke Bythway, O'Sullivan.
Subs: Steel, Hodgson, Rowe, Hardy, Dixon

Mattie Moffat scored in both our games last season, first one goal and then a hat trick so I suppose he had to be favourite to score today. Both last seasons games totalled 14 goals being scored by West Auckland so perhaps a high scoring game again?

Guisborough failed to get into our stride in the first half so it was no surprise that both goals were scored before the interval. The first had to be Mattie Moffat who collected the ball from John Campbell and slotted past man of the match Ben Escritt on 25 minutes. with less than 10 minutes remaining Adam Rundle's through ball found Elliot Gardner who sent Escritt the wrong way.

The second half the Priorymen improved but failed to make an impact with the offensive play proving that West's new look defence who earned their second consecutive clean sheet were doing the right job.

Chris Hardy was disappointed that the team "didn't ask any more questions of the West side" but pleased that the defence coped better than the last two games with West Auckland.

Next game on Saturday 3rd November it is the return of the Railwaymen who have already visited the KGV in the FA Cup.

We played some good football but we never really looked like scoring today. Did the West keeper have a goal-bound shot to save all game?! I think not.

Unfortunately it's becoming a same old story for us...plenty of effort and lots of neat football, but where is the killer touch when we need it? For all our possession, we don't look or create anything half as dangerous as one simple clearance or kick upfield caused! Ok, our recent opponents have inculded Whitley Bay and West Auckland, these are no easy games, but perhaps we ought to be a bit more daring and direct in our attacks, because in my view we're becoming unstuck and sussed out by the more physical sides in this league and right now we're struggling for goals. :? :(

I don't think so Gary!

Anyway, that's three tough games out of the way and we have actually played some good stuff in all three, especially the first half against WB. Fingers crossed we 'click' in the final 3rd, as Pooley said, and the goals will come. :D
